We were proud to celebrate our National Honor Society students at Bellport High School. Proud of the instructional work/passion centered on our students

Our administrators, teachers, literacy coordinators, math interventionists, chairs, and staff take a comprehensive approach to supporting our students. Through MTSS and data collaboration meetings, teams analyze multiple data points, identify student needs, and take action by adjusting instruction, providing targeted small group support, and delivering push in services for math, reading, and ELL students.
The approach is consistent progress monitoring, close reading, vocabulary development, reciprocal teaching, and explicit instruction in foundational skills such as phonemic awareness and phonics, grounded in the Science of Reading. This work is strengthened when we have alignment across schools, with the K–5 Literacy Committee and the 6–12 Literacy Committee (across content areas) collaborating to ensure continuity between elementary and secondary instruction.

Thank You, South Country Community!!
This week has been a great reminder of what makes our community so special. From our elementary, intermediate, middle, and high school food drives, to delivering meals to families, and working with the Brookhaven pantry, our staff continue to make a real difference for those in need.
And of course, it’s been wonderful to see our students and staff having fun in all our Buildings! Grateful for the great work our staff does everyday! Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Our students had so much to say about what they’re learning and what matters to them at our BHS Curriculum Fair. From the expansion of college-credit opportunities to open access we’re celebrating in AP and Pre-AP courses, and more, their insights were inspiring.
What stood out to me most were students conversations about the skills and competencies they see as essential to becoming successful BHS graduates. Their voices continue to drive our Portrait of a Graduate work.

Congratulations to all of our National Junior Honor Society inductees! We’re so proud of your hard work, dedication, and the leadership you’ve shown at and our community.
A special thank you to Dr. Aiello for leading the induction ceremony and to Ms. Malaney and Ms. Cooley for guiding and mentoring our students as NJHS advisors. Your support has helped shape the next generation of leaders.
Hearing the students speak about the pillars of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Character, and Citizenship showed how deeply they’re committed to making a difference, not just through academic achievement, but through service as well. Their dedication reflects countless hours of effort and growth. I couldn’t be more proud of the passion and purpose they brought to the stage. Their future is bright, and it’s clear they’re ready to lead with heart.

Excited about this team! Our HS teachers are part of this year’s AI/PBL Academy, collaborating with surrounding districts to bring innovative learning experiences for our students. This work supports the NYS Computer Science & Digital Fluency Standards and Portrait of a Graduate skills through meaningful, real world problem-based learning. Appreciative of Ms. Lauren Sinacori (ELA), Mr. John Bishop (Social Studies), Ms. Alexa Okon (Science/Special Education), Mr. Zack Milack (Science), and Ms. Carol Heredia (World Languages) for representing SC with dedication and passion.

Bellport Middle School hosted a meaningful event to give back and show gratitude to our veterans!
Thank you to our Social Studies teachers and to Ms. Megan Bevan, our Middle School Social Studies lead teacher, for leading the effort. Special thanks to Dr. Lindsay Blaszcyk for organizing a powerful assembly through Paws of War. 🐾
