Commonwealth ChalleNGe Class 64 cadets participated in a challenging and rewarding Crucible led by the Commandant. Modeled after the military leadership evaluations used in the process of becoming a Marine Corps officer, the event tested cadets' ability to think critically, work as a team, and lead under pressure.

Throughout the morning, cadets faced a series of problem-solving challenges that required communication, resilience, and teamwork. As they navigated each obstacle, their leadership skills were observed and evaluated, providing valuable opportunities for growth and self-discovery.

The Crucible challenged cadets to step outside their comfort zones, demonstrate initiative, and embody the core values of leadership and service. We are proud of the determination, perseverance, and teamwork displayed by every cadet throughout the event.

Yesterday, Class 64 Cadets worked alongside the dedicated employees of State Military Reservation (SMR) to repair and clean the beach area that has been home to Commonwealth Challenge Youth Academy for more than 30 years.

SMR has a long history of supporting military readiness, training, and stewardship of Virginia’s coastal environment. Today, our cadets continued that legacy by giving back to the installation and helping preserve the natural resources that make this area so special.

Environmental protection is an important responsibility. Through projects like this, cadets learn that leadership includes caring for the communities and environments that support us. Their hard work not only improved the shoreline but also demonstrated teamwork, pride, and a commitment to service.

Thank you to the SMR team for partnering with our cadets and providing another valuable opportunity to serve.

**Service to Community in Action!**

Cadets from Commonwealth Challenge Class 64 were honored to support Newsome Park Elementary School's Field Day, demonstrating the importance of giving back through service. Opportunities like this reinforce one of the National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program's core components: **Service to Community**.

Throughout the day, cadets assisted with activities, encouraged students, and served as positive role models for younger children. By volunteering their time and energy, they gained valuable leadership experience while making a meaningful impact on the local community.

Thank you to Newsome Park Elementary School for welcoming our cadets and allowing them to be part of such a fun and rewarding event. Every act of service helps build stronger leaders and stronger communities!

CCYA cadets had an incredible opportunity to train alongside the dedicated men and women of the United States Coast Guard this week. From physical fitness to teamwork and discipline, our cadets were able to experience firsthand the level of commitment and professionalism it takes to serve.

Opportunities like this not only build strength, but also inspire our cadets to push beyond their limits and consider future paths of service.
