Yesterday, Portsmouth Christian students celebrated the end of summer with an Island Getaway field trip hosted by yours truly! 🌺🏝️

Students transformed into engineers for the day as they designed and created an epic bike race down a giant mountain in Maui. 🚲🌋 Working together, they built some incredible bike trail mountains while using creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

To top off the adventure, every student went home with a pineapple and coconut filled with take-home goodies — including their very own lava slime! 🍍🥥🌋

What a fun way to end the summer while learning through hands-on STEAM exploration! ✨

The Challenge Island Virginia Beach family is incredibly blessed! Our hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving our community are opening so many exciting doors, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

As a small way of saying thank you, we’ll be hosting a FREE Stomp Rockets activity—and trust us… these rockets really fly! 🚀

Parents, there is bus transportation available to this event, so if you can, save your gas and enjoy the ride. Come explore all of the amazing resources and activities the city has to offer, then stop by our booth to build, launch, and watch your rockets soar high with us!

We can’t wait to see everyone there for a day of learning, laughter, and hands-on STEAM fun!

Why did I choose a children’s STEAM franchise?

Because it reflects the way I choose to raise my children.

In our home, we intentionally limit screen time. There are no TVs in the kids’ bedrooms, no smartphones, and we encourage imagination, creativity, conversation, and hands-on learning instead.

I know our parenting style isn’t the social norm, and that’s okay. Every family chooses what’s best for their children, and this is what works for ours.

That’s why STEAM felt like the perfect fit. It aligns with the culture we’ve created at home—one that values curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-life experiences over endless scrolling.

This isn’t just a business for me. It’s an extension of the values I unapologetically choose to raise my children with. ❤️
