🦆You’ll never guess who’s coming to our Nature Party…
THE BackBay National Wildlife Refuge! Well, their representatives, at least. :)
BackBay National Wildlife Refuge is located in the southeastern corner of VA beach. It was established in 1938 to protect and provide for the local waterfowl. Hundreds of species call this place home in diverse habitats such as beachfront, freshwater marsh, dunes, and shrub-scrub (this is a young habitat with stunted trees and shrubs, if you hadn’t heard of it before, like me).
There are lots of fun things to do there, like hike, bike, or catch a pike (sorry)! You can also kayak, learn about the environment, go on ranger-led programs, watch wildlife, go boating, and take lots of pretty pictures.
Please check them out and help support their cause!

🍀Have you ever met a yogi who works with families and children?
Well now you have! Our next activity host is the evermost lovely Calm Kids.
Calm Kids, founded by Amber W., was designed to be a figurative net that catches the children, families, and communities who end up slipping through the cracks of the mental health system. She accomplishes this by blending somatic and mindfulness practices like yoga, sound, and breath-work with fun, educational experiences to reduce physiological stress and tension. I feel more at peace just after writing this! A big thank you to her for joining us at the party!
Please check out Calm Kids when you get the chance!

SCRAPZ!!!
Scrapz aims to reimagine waste as opportunity. By collecting, processing, and redistributing cardboard for composting, growing, and reuse, we build small, visible loops between local businesses, organizations, and the community that keep materials in use. Through hands-on compost education and recycled 3D-printed tools, we focus on empowering all ages to take simple, meaningful steps toward a more sustainable future.
