This might go over some heads … Train at (or above) game speed so often that …as a result… it “slows down” the actual game. In addition, you will learn to “thrive in the uncomfortable”Both are vital skills to becoming a ROCK. A champion. A Dude!

This scene in F1 The Movie demonstrates exactly what happens to the best in every sport, when everyone else around them gets sped up and out of control.

Wyatt Stokes has been a frequent Dirt Bro camp attendee, and he’s bought into the process. One area he’s invested in is his throwing routine, especially our Spin Cycle series, where we train throwing off spins, awkward angles, and athletic movements.

Good infielders like Wyatt make difficult plays look routine because they’ve already put in the uncommon work. Those reps don’t just stay on the practice field, they show up when the game is on the line.

The best infielders don’t just master the routine plays. They build a toolbox that’s deep enough to make the hard plays look easy.

The details matter. The uncommon reps matter.

What people say after experiencing Dirt Bro matters more than anything we could ever say ourselves. From Hall of Fame coaches and former Major Leaguers to college commits and parents, we’re grateful for the trust they’ve placed in our instruction.

Our mission has always been simple: help players develop the skills, habits, and baseball IQ that lead to success on the field while also building the character, discipline, and mindset needed to become champions in life.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of the Dirt Bro family. We’re excited to keep growing this community one player, one family, and one relationship at a time.

Receiving the baseball is one of the most overlooked fundamentals in the game.

The way you catch the ball is one of the first things coaches, recruiters, and scouts notice. Do you receive it cleanly? Do you dominate the catch? Do your feet put you in position to make an efficient transition into your throw?

For infielders and catchers, those details matter. So does knowing when to catch with one hand versus two.

This 101-level video covers the fundamental actions that build cleaner catches, quicker transfers, and better baseball IQ. Master the simple things, and the difficult plays become much easier.

Ponder this…
Many HS players have hopes/dreams/goals of one day becoming a Division I starting shortstop.

But stop for a moment and consider the odds (rough estimate). It takes way more than hopes and wishes to earn one of these 300 coveted starting spots….

Each year, there are approximately 473,000 varsity high school baseball players.

Then multiply that across 6 graduating HS classes (currently 6 classes of HS players make up a D1 roster with redshirts, etc)…

That’s nearly 3 million players chasing just 300 Division I starting shortstop jobs.

That’s roughly 1 in 9,500.
Note… The takeaway isn’t that it’s impossible.

*** The takeaway is … that average effort won’t beat extraordinary odds. If you want extraordinary results, you have to separate yourself every single day.

Train with purpose. Practice with intent. Do the work when no one is watching. The odds are stacked against you. Your work ethic is your chance to change those odds.

Get to work with a process and a quality plan. Leave no stone unturned in your training. First… Do simple better and then continue to add to your tool box! Dare to be different… because you will have to be.

Right now we live in a world of showcase tooled players (throw hard, hit hard/far, run fast, etc.), but most don’t know how to play the game. Playing checkers when it’s chess.

Get noticed, by demonstrating high baseball IQ and situational awareness. Hustle on and off the field. Control your emotions when you fail and bounce back on the next pitch…. and when you succeed… act like you have done it before… old school style. Yea… I promise you will get noticed.
