Taber Mongero throwing a mini football at age 3 - 1/2 years old. It is possible to develop plus throwing skills (very early in life) if a toddler is bent towards enjoying any game or activity with throwing involved. And you just let them throw. No coaching necessary.

Your kid says he wants to play college baseball… better read this below carefully. (Not sure who to credit) but it’s spot on….

* From a major D1 recruiter…

Every kid we recruit works hard and lifts weights.
Every kid takes 100’s reps.
Every kid says they care and wants to win!

So that’s not what separates guys anymore. You better be doing all those things with intent or you have no shot!!!

So the difference in a standard “good HS player” and “GREAT HS player” is:

Who can stay consistent when it’s NOT going well.

Because everyone looks good:
- When they’re getting hits
- When they’re starting
- When things feel easy

But when it flips?

0–3
Sitting the bench
That’s when things speed up

That’s where most players change.

Body language drops
Energy dips
Confidence disappears

**** And that’s when coaches (recruiters) make decisions.

Not when things are going right…

but when they’re NOT.

So the real question:

Juggling is one of the simplest, most effective ways to improve your hand-eye coordination. Most players never actually get good at it, and here's why.

They shy away from the failure that comes with learning it. Not being able to get the hang of it feels like a weakness, so they quit before it actually starts working.

But if you can get your brain out of the way and let your body learn it, this is something that can take your hand-eye coordination to a completely new level.

All it takes is minimal resources: yourself, 3 tennis balls, and a wall if you want to juggle off of one.

Most players run through it without understanding what it's actually training, and that's exactly where it stops working.

Here it's broken down the right way, the details that make it effective instead of just another rep.

Rounding off the baseball isn't wrong. Doing way too much of it is.

We see a lot of people promoting rounding off the baseball, which is correct within itself. But what we're seeing is players doing drills where they round off way too much, and rarely, if ever, are balls hit in games where you have time for all of that.

Coach Taber Mongero breaks down the overteach here: how you actually want to practice getting off to the side of the baseball, how the overteach usually happens, and the cue that fixes it.
