Here's a fun, cheap, and mess free(ish) sensory activity for the busy bee in your life. 💛🐝💛
🌈 Rainbow Sensory Jar 🌈
🛑⚠️Supervise your child at all times during this activity.⚠️🛑
All you need is:
- A clear container with a sealed water-tight lid. preferably glass- mason jar or baby food jar, but tupperware works too!
- 1 papertowel sheet, add a coffee filter if you'd like to keep the dyed filter after(cute baby art project)
- Soap
- Food coloring
✅️LET YOUR BABY HELP EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. 👶👍
✅️Please follow your heart with these directions. Add as much or as little as you want. 😉
✅️Get down on baby's level, if possible. Sit on the floor, or throw a cheap shower curtain on the bed and bring them up there with your. *Again. Supervise your child AT ALL TIMES DURING THIS ACTIVITY.
Step 1) Add a 1/2 tsp soap to jar, and fill 1/3 the way. Add paper towel. Close lid. Let baby shake it up. *Assist your baby with this, especially using glass. 🖐👂👀
Step 2) Open jar and explore the bubbles with your little. 🖐👃
Step 3) Give your baby some options when it comes to food dye colors. 👀
Step 4) Let them shake it again! Watch the bubbles change colors. Add more colors and see what happens.👶 👀🎨🎨
Step 5) Add ingredients like dry rice, dry pasta, glitter, or dry beans. Shake it up! Talk to your little able the sounds they hear. 👶👂
Step 6) Baby doesn't need to necessarily help with this part. 😉
Once done with activity do contents of jar into a strainer, remove and discard of paper towel, rinse pasta(or whatever item you used). If you used a lighter color item, you should now have a dyed rice, pasta, etc. Once rince and drained, spread out on paper towels, and let dry. You can also place on parchment paper and bake at 200° for about an hour to help it dry faster.
Step 7) Your jar should be pretty darn clean too, but give it a quick wash or rinse, dry amd set aside.
Step 8) Since you already have some noodles out, cook them bad boys and feed them to your little one for a fun snack. 😋🍴
Step 9) Add your dried and dyed noodles(that's what I used) to your jar. Leave lid off if you feel the noodles are 100% dry yet.
**BOOM**
You now have the start of a rainbow noodle sensory jar, or even a great item for arts and crafts! Plus, an easy snack/lunch made for your little(s).
