How did you do?! 👀

Advanced subject/Verb agreement is one of the skills I notice students who take the SAT/ACT struggle with.

In this sentence, students see “roses” (plural), think it’s the subject, and end up picking a verb that agrees with plural nouns.

The real subject is “bouquet” (singular) so the correct answer is “is.”

Quick Tip: Get rid of the extra information (prepositional phrase) so you can see the subject clearly.

Ask yourself, “What is on the table?”

Sentence frames are one of the most helpful tools for your AP Lang rhetorical analysis essay.

They help you start your ideas, explain your thinking clearly, and strengthen your writing.

The goal is to use them as a guide so your analysis is clear, specific, and intentional.

Transitions are often an overlooked component of line of reasoning, and (when given models,) they are an “easy” fix for emerging writers.

Transitions Can Help Your Line of Reasoning in AP Lang

POV: your AP Lang essay is stuck at a 3 because your commentary is weak 😬

Biggest mistake I see? Students summarize instead of ANALYZE.

Try this instead👇
✨ Use a “because” clause to actually explain your thinking
✨ Upgrade your verbs: highlights, illustrates, emphasizes
✨ Zoom in on KEY WORDS → connotation, tone, effect on the audience
✨ Always connect back to the rhetorical situation (speaker, audience, purpose, etc.)

That’s how you move from basic → strong.

With the exam inching closer, I figured it would be a good time to remind students about rhetorically accurate verbs.
