We are so proud to have supported two of our primary assistants over the last year during their training. These two special women have been with Fiore for several years and it has been an honor to watch them grow. They took a leap to go through the AMI Primary Guide training and just graduated with their diplomas from Washington Montessori Institute! This is a very rigorous course and took so much dedication from each of them. Congratulations Bella and Jocelyn!

Rainy days, tiny hands, big discoveries! Some of our toddlers exploring their garden on a rainy day led to some observations of slugs and worms!

Our upper elementary students had a great time on their recent camping trip! They enjoyed team-building activities, cooked their own meals, participated in an aerial obstacle course, canoeing, paddle boarding, and rock climbing. We are always so thrilled to hear about their adventures and continuous connection with nature.

Today is National Great Poetry Reading Day! Did you know poetry is introduced and studied across all ages in the Montessori classroom?
Even children in the infant and toddler communities can engage with rhythm, rhyme, and repetition. As children get older, poetry continues to be integrated into the curriculum across subjects. Poetry is a sensory-rich tool for language development and creative expression.
What are some of your favorite poems?

Spring is full of so many natural wonders and some of our toddler classrooms are observing the life cycle of butterflies! There are excited eyes all around for this very delicate process.

Happy national gardening day from all our gardeners!
All children at Fiore have the opportunity to engage with nature in enriching and valuable ways. They experience the changing seasons and are introduced to the care of plants. We spend time outside in all weather, get our hands dirty, prepare garden beds, plant seeds, harvest fruits and vegetables, and prepare meals with the harvest!
What do you think the kids are planting this Spring? Check back soon to see!

Our junior high students have been working and learning about syrup production and tried their hand at tapping trees on campus. With a little help from our neighbors at the Potomac Vegetable Farm they were able to boil down some sap today and are looking forward to enjoying the results.
