On December 14, 2023, Yale announced they only admitted 9% of early applicants, marking the lowest early admit rate in over two decades‼️
Out of a pool of 7,856 applicants, only 709 applicants received admission. Of the remaining applicants, 1,531 students (20%) were deferred to the regular decision pool, and 5,537 students (70%) were denied admission.
According to this data, there has been a shift in the admissions process starting with the Class of 2025.
The admissions office previously preferred to defer applicants until the regular decision date in spring. Now, there has been a recent push to reject a greater number of applicants in the early action round.
Why? There are 2 reasons for this change:
1️⃣ The significant increase in applications.
2️⃣ Feedback from colleagues from high schools throughout the country suggesting that providing final decisions sooner would be more beneficial.
The result?
Early Decision/ Early Action is becoming the new Regular Decision and getting an acceptance letter from your dream college has become a more challenging feat than ever before.
With the rise of college applications, students are feeling the pressure to make their applications stand out, but how can you outshine a larger pool of qualified applicants?

Do you want to get ACCEPTED into your dream or Top-tier colleges?
I get it… you’re most likely overwhelmed, stressed, and worried about whether you will actually get accepted into your dream colleges because Top-tier college acceptance rates are the lowest in history. Harvard 3.7%, Brown 5%, Yale 4.35%, Columbia 3.9%, UCLA 8% and the list goes on.
The Top-tier college admissions process is becoming more competitive than ever because there are 100,000+ of highly qualified applicants with only a few spots.
So if you’re doing what everyone else is doing:
✅ Joining a sports team, playing an instrument, attending summer programs, or volunteering hundreds of hours with no strategy in place.
✅ Only focusing on GPA and SAT/ACT scores.
✅ Trying to add something “unique” to your extracurricular list but not sure how to start.
How will you stand out?
You can’t expect to stand out among thousands of competitive applicants who are doing exactly the same thing. If you don’t know how to STAND OUT by demonstrating your passion in a compelling way, your hard-worked college application will go into the rejected pile.
So how exactly do you stand out & get ACCEPTED?
I’ve mentored and coached hundreds of high school students to get accepted into their dream Top-tier colleges.
