💜 District 7545's Mission: End Polio Now 💜

Rotarians across District 7545 are coming together with a bold goal: raising $100,000 for PolioPlus to help eradicate polio once and for all.

Thanks to the generosity of our clubs and members, we have already raised $7,615.82, bringing us to 7.6% of our goal! While we've made a great start, there is still important work to be done. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps protect children around the world from a preventable disease and moves us closer to a polio free future.

Imagine the impact if every Rotarian in District 7545 contributed just a small amount. Together, we can achieve something extraordinary and help Rotary finish a decades long mission. Through the power of Rotary and its partners, we are closer than ever to ending polio, but we cannot stop until the job is done.

This morning, Alexis Ullmann, Program and Activities Coordinator from The Arc of the Mid-Ohio Valley, spoke to the Wood County Rotary Club at the Vienna Community Building in Jackson Park. Alexis spoke about the Secret Christmas Program that our club will be supporting this year through our grant program. Secret Christmas is a project in which individuals, clubs, businesses and churches provide gifts and hygiene items for adults and teens 13 years and older who have intellectual, cognitive or related developmental disabilities. The majority of those served live in special home settings and demonstrate extreme financial needs, with little or no outside support to cover their clothing, grooming, transportation, and social needs. This project provides Christmas gifts to 250 individuals who are above the age for assistance from other community programs, yet they have a need for a special care package at Christmas. A $50 donation can have a significant impact for an individual in need. You can purchase items ($50) from a “wish list” provided by The Arc, you can volunteer to wrap gifts at the “Wrap Party” at South Parkersburg Baptist Church on November 30 or volunteer to shop for participants. This morning, Randy Brannon, Area 6 Assistant District Governor, delivered the new Rotary banner to the Wood County Rotary Club at the Vienna Community Building in Jackson Park. Randy spoke about goals that the District Governor will share when she visits with us next Thursday. He encouraged us with the new projects that our club will be working on for this year and gave us some insight regarding plans for District events taking place this coming year. Next week, District Governor Julie Sawyer will be visiting with us and will share more information regarding her plans and goals for the upcoming year.

It’s that time of year again! The Wood County Rotary Club will be holding their annual Tennis Championships at Greenmont Racquet Club in Vienna, November 7–8. We are currently seeking sponsors to help with this event. Proceeds are returned to the community each year to help local 501(c) 3 nonprofit organizations continue the great work that they do right here in Wood County. We hope that you will join us to make this event very successful again this year.

This morning, members of the Wood County Rotary Club met at Parkersburg Catholic High School with our “ Partners In Education” and Rotary Interact Club members. Plans are underway for the 2026 Wood County Rotary Club Tennis Championships taking place at Greenmont Racquet Club November 7–8. This USTA sanctioned event has continued to help us give back to local 501(c) three nonprofit organizations that do so much good work right here in the Mid-Ohio Valley.
