DREA held its monthly meeting 9/3/26 at DCHS with a focus on Personal Finance. They were pleased to welcome Mr. Donnie Lyons of Primerica Financial Services from Fort Valley as the guest speaker.

An important messages of the day was simple but powerful: It’s never too early—or too late—to start saving for your future! Mr. Lyons shared valuable investment tips, practical strategies for eliminating debt, and helpful information for building a stronger financial future.

We thank Mr. Lyons, for sharing his knowledge and encouraging us to take charge of our financial wellness!

Coming Next Month: Our focus turns to Health, as we recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We look forward to another informative and meaningful session!

DREA attended the Area 1 & 2 meeting on August 18, 2026 at Albany Technical College where over 100 GREA members were in attendance. DREA is in Area 2, under the leadership of Ms. Jane Butler. Breakfast was provided before the meeting. The 2026-2027 theme is "Sound the Trumpet: Fellowship. Service. Support." Members heard from Dr. Sallie Mills, GREA President, Liz Bouis, GREA President-Elect, TRS Representative, Mike Zarem, AMBA Representative, Debbie Scarborough, and GREA Executive, Director Johnny Smith.

DREA held its first meeting of the 2026-2027 school year. The school system's superintendent and principals brought greetings and expressed gratitude for continued support. DREA's Area Director attended the meeting and discussed the GREA's scholarship for paraprofessionals. Communities in the Schools Coordinator
extended greetings and discussed her role in the schools. Members received updated handbooks and of course fellowshipped. Refreshments were sponsored by the executive board.

On June 15, 2026, the Dooly Retired Educators Association (DREA) met to develop its agenda and plan activities for the 2026–2027 school year in support of Dooly County Schools and its commitment to student success.

Dooly County High School Principal Mr. A. Williams welcomed the retired educators with warm greetings and graciously provided lunch for those in attendance. During the meeting, Shamari Webb was presented with the 2026 DREA Scholarship in recognition of her academic achievements and future potential. Members extended their heartfelt congratulations and wished her continued success as she pursues her educational and career goals.

The 2026-2027 planning meeting of DREA took place at 4:00 pm on Thursday, June 15th, at the DCHS Media Center. During the meeting, Ms. Shamari Webb accepted her 2026 Educators' Scholarship, Mr. Alvin Williams, Principal of DCHS, provided refreshments and extended a warm welcome to retired educators for another outstanding year; and members evaluated last year's the goals, missions, and objectives and planned for the upcoming year with the theme: Sound The Trumpet!
