Many alumni tell us it takes months — sometimes even years — to fully understand the impact their semester here had on them. That sentiment came through clearly in this quote from Zohar Lindemann S25, shared with us at this summer’s reunion: “I left feeling like I could do anything.”

Academic rigor, though a topic of conversation at every school, is often nebulous in meaning. Increasingly, students, families, and educators are asking ‘what does it mean to be academically rigorous?’ - is it a matter of test scores, the amount of homework, the length of readings and research papers?

This summer we welcomed alumni Amaya Whitehead-Bust S25 and Zohar Lindemann S25 back on campus. During one of our meals together, we listened as they reflected on learning about “systems thinking” and the mentality they developed as students here. We couldn’t help but ask them for an interview to share!

Every summer we welcome back TMS alumni for their reunions. For some, it’s only been a year since they’ve stepped on campus, but for others, it’s been decades. Reuniting to listen to stories, get our hands dirty, share meals in the dining hall, and watch our families grow — this is one of the most treasured times of the year. Thank you to all who joined and we can’t wait to see those attending reunions later this summer!
