These assistive technology tools help students communicate, participate in class, build relationships, and express themselves across school environments every day. We are proud to support student voices through collaboration between families, teachers, therapists, and support staff.

Students participating in the Work Based Learning Experience (WBLE) program were honored with a luncheon at Pelican Landing, one of the community partner work sites supporting the WBLE program. In the words of Christine Ramos, Resident Lifestyle Director, "There are some experiences in life that don't just shape what you do - they shape who you are... these programs are not just about teaching job skills. They are about building confidence, independence, and dignity." We are so proud of our students and excited for the experiences yet to come!

Preparing for a dentist visit can help reduce anxiety and build confidence. Talking about what to expect and practicing ahead of time can make the experience feel more familiar and manageable for children.

The Exceptional Student Education team hosted a Parent Advisory Council Meeting last Wednesday. Kim Thorne from Project 10, a state discretionary project, presented about transition services and resources for students to prepare for life after high school. Tony Prudenti and students who participate in the Work Based Learning Experience program spoke to the group about the job skills they are learning at their sites and shared their plans for the future. We are so proud of our students!
