Focus on the Masters (FOTM) is a non-profit art appreciation and education program. FOTM is the only biographical resource project of its kind in the country.

Our archive includes oral histories, video taped interviews, photographic portraits and examples of the artists’ work. We incorporate our research into community outreach projects including our Learning To See Youth Outreach cross-curricular in-school program and monthly meet the artists interviews.

For artist Lori Cozen-Geller, sculpture becomes a way to explore absence, connection, loss, discovery, and the emotional experiences that shape our lives.

Join us for an engaging conversation with Lori as she discusses her work, creative process, and the ideas that inspire her distinctive sculptures.

Kiln Magic ✨

For ceramic artist Emily Brown, the kiln is where anticipation and uncertainty meet.

Every piece makes at least two trips through the kiln. The first firing transforms carefully formed clay into bisqueware, preparing it to receive glaze. The second firing is where the real surprise begins.

Even after hundreds of firings, opening the kiln never gets old. Colors shift, glazes react, and the final results remain a mystery until the kiln has cooled and the door can finally be opened.

Sometimes there are disappointments. Sometimes there are surprises. And sometimes, something magical emerges.
