Make music a part of your life.

Have you been playing your instrument for a long time?

Ever considered teaching it?

I played piano since I was 9 years old and always had in home music teachers. My dad taught me to play by ear and I was very involved in the music ministry at my church back in the day. Eventually, I went on to starting my own music teaching business and taught over 30 students at a time for years. I didn’t have an official music degree, but I had experience, knowledge, and a passion for music.

If you are in the same situation and aren’t sure if you are ‘allowed’ to be an instructor without officiality, know that its perfectly okay to teach and get paid for it! It’s time to get on board and take my course! Its packed with value and will help you get started. Link in bio!

Funny Teaching Moment

I had a 6-year-old student look down at my hands once as I was showing her some notes on the piano and very empathetically say to me: You have such old hands, don’t you?

I was 25 and my hands are naturally veiny. I literally laughed out loud and don’t even remember my response, but I definitely remember feeling old for a second. 🤣

Have you had any funny music lesson moments? Please share 😊

How to reward your students?

Here are a few ways you can reward your music students, especially children:

- for little ones, have a basket of gifts that they know you have, and have them pick a gift every time they finish learning a piece or practice consecutively every day for the month. The gifts can be small. Arrange with the parents so that they can pitch in and provide the gifts or the $ for you to get them.

- for both older and younger students, take a field trip with them to the local music store and have them choose their next book. (make sure to arrange this with parents of minors ahead of time).

- play a fun music game after each lesson if they recorded their practice time, or achieved a milestone.

-figure out what motivates them specifically and consider using that method of motivation if you are able to.

Rewarding your students can be a great motivation tool for them! When they have something to look forward to, they will most likely be more motivated to get their practice in and do it consistently. Especially if the requirement is to learn a piece well, or memorize it!
