One of my favorite memories growing up was spending summer weekends at my grandparent’s lake house. As an adult, I knew I wanted to have a place on the water that would create more memories and more joy. This is that place — and we love that we have the opportunity to share this place so folks can make their own memories on the river.

Summer may be coming to an end but that just means you trade the SPF for a sweater! ☀️

Lots of blooms and butterflies! 🦋 🌼

We have a busy few weeks coming up on the property. Between our guest bookings we are aiming to get our wildflower meadow and pollinator box gardens ready for seeding and plantings in fall. More butterflies, more!

Let’s take a lunchtime mosey… 🌼🦎🍇

Saw lots of flowers, lizards, spicebush caterpillars, and buffets of ripe beauty berries for the birds. Couldn’t get a photo but we also saw a couple Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterflies, a Green Heron and Belted Kingfisher near the waters edge. What a treat. 😍

Stay in one of our mini cabins for a simple time in nature. These cabins have private, screened-in porches for listening to cicada song (screams) and watching the river glisten through the trees. Grab your current book of choice and enjoy… 🍃

Good morning! 🍃🐦‍⬛

On the dock listening to birds this a.m. before we tackle the to-do list for the day. We had our regulars including the Pileated Woodpecker, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Northern Cardinal, Carolina Wren, a very chatty White-eyed Vireo and Bluejays practicing their hawk mimicking…

Something we really enjoy and prioritize on the property is landscaping/gardening for pollinators and wildlife using native plants. 🌱 🦋

Over time, we plan to replace most of our non-native ornamental plants with natives (don’t worry, we are leaving the azaleas and camellias). We have quite a few butterfly and pollinator garden plans for our guest cabins that we can’t wait to start come fall.

Stay tuned… 🌼
