I have a deep love and respect for the experience of pregnancy, birth and parenthood and find it to be an honor and a blessing to be a part of it. I am reminded of life's most precious truths when being privileged enough to witness a loving couple's transformation to parenthood. There is so much joy and awe to be found in the company of both expecting parents and newborns. My mission is to help ne

An amazing weekend was had by all! I had the privilege and honor of supporting Britta Bushnell in her immersion weekend childbirth class along with doula Jena Scott. So many deep, valuable takeaways as an educator caring for promised and new families. These couples took away an experience they will always remember as well as the strategies and insights that will guide their transition to parenthood and their transforming selves and relationships. Beautiful beyond words. I am forever grateful for Britta's apprenticeship for birth workers which is providing the platform for this deep, soulful learning.

Birth settings and providers matter! Both can have a significant effect on our labor and birth experience, which will color our self-concept and transition to parenthood.

After having mt own 2 positive births that were without intervention I was drawn to birth work. To my surprise and frustration my hospital labor and delivery training exposed me to over-medicalized birth that ultimately pattered me for fear of the" what ifs" lurking behind each intervention.

All working in this arena absolutely want the best outcomes for all. But, the truth is, as Dr. Stuart Fischbein
discusses in this podcast, that there are many contributing factors.
They include:
1. Where your OB delivers babies (hospitals and birth centers have policies that dictate care)
2. How they were trained (existing birth paradigm; how long ago?)
3. Their perspective ( is birth a normal human process or an emergency waiting to happen?)
4. Skills and experience in supporting vs. managing the process in which there are no special circumstances

Understanding these elements is a key starting point for birth preparation. This podcast provides insights with considering as you move into the choices available to you related to birth.

Another commonly held belief that has no basis in reality. Don't believe everything you think.

A mom with small breasts can have just as much (or more!) milk-making tissue as a mom with large breasts.
