A sincere thank you to every single person who voted today! I am so thrilled for this opportunity to serve as a school board trustee. Congratulations to George Foley for District 13 School Board on his win, as well! I look forward to working with Trustee Foley and the entire board to make our schools the best they can be for our students. Everyone who ran, in this district and others, should be proud for stepping up and trying to do some good, win or lose.

To every person that passed out a flyer, spread the word to friends and neighbors, put a sign on their lawn, posted on social media, or said a word of support (even if you couldn't vote because you're not in District 13 😆), this is your win. And most importantly, it is a win for the kids.

And on a personal note, thank you to my family and friends for supporting me through this campaign and everything, always. I am so grateful.

Time to get out there and cast those votes! For me, running for school board trustee is not just something I decided to do on a whim. It is just one of a lifetime of choices I have made to give back to my community, be a person for others, and dedicate myself to the education and overall wellbeing of all children. If these are values you align with, I urge you to vote today.

Let's make sound, educated decisions for our schools that allow our students to thrive and make District 13 the place where people want to buy their homes, raise their families, and where teachers want to make their careers.

Thank you Mari NY for sharing this informative graphic. One of the things I hope to improve upon is the understanding among the community about how our elementary districts and the VSCHSD function. Confusion about how to vote in these elections, where to vote, and about what exactly you're voting for is discouraging and a barrier to participating in the process. This District 13 election matters even if your children are no longer in elementary school. The outcome of these elections will impact the composition of the high school board in the coming years. Please come out and vote Kunz on Tuesday, May 20th and share this information with your friends and family. When we know better, we vote better 😉

Today I want to express my support for another candidate who stepped up to run when one seat became uncontested. It's so important that voters have choices in any election and George Foley made that happen for District 13 voters by deciding to run. I'm excited to vote for a candidate who, like myself, has deep roots in this community and believes in lifelong community engagement. His experience as a former teacher and NYC principal would bring invaluable expertise to the board. If you want sound, reasoned decision-making and a board that is truly for all students, please consider George Foley and myself as you vote on May 20th. George Foley for District 13 School Board

A huge thank you to the Interschool PTA for putting together last night's Meet the Candidates event and to the moderator and timekeeper from the Nassau Region PTA as well. I hope those who watched got to know me and what I can offer the board a little better. I hope to earn the opportunity to serve this fantastic school district well. Today, May 13th, is the last day to register to vote in the school board elections! Voter registration is happening from 5pm to 9pm tonight at all elementary schools. It's not too late!

As a public librarian I am no stranger to advocacy work and thinking outside the box to secure more funding for libraries. As an institution that relies on local tax dollars as well as state and federal funding, we are constantly advocating at the state and federal level to get more for our patrons. From trips up to Albany to legislative breakfasts, I've banded together with colleagues to show our elected officials why we need to fully fund libraries and what doing so could give back to our communities. While nobody can make something out of nothing like a public librarian with very few resources, we shouldn't have to and our schools shouldn't either. On May 20th, vote for the candidate who will be a voice for public education and our students at every level. Vote Jaclyn Kunz.
