Congratulations to the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Team at the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah for this major achievement and I am very proud to be part of this amazing achievement.
Despite all the challenges and difficulties, the center was able to provide the best care for infants and children with heart defects. Excellent results in repairing a wide variety of heart defects using the right axillary thoracotomy approach to the point that this approach is becoming the standard of care.
This approach is associated with superior cosmetic results, faster recovery and rapid return to full unrestricted activity compared to standard sternotomy.
Ability to perform more than 50 cases despite all the challenges speaks of how much this team is determined, enthusiastic and always looking for the best for these children. It goes without doubt the successful role of the leadership and the support from the PCRF - Palestine Children's Relief Fund which were both major key in creating this successful story.
