VSU College of Humanities and Social Sciences

Summer Study Abroad is a longstanding tradition in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. This summer, VSU students visited Waterford, Ireland; Gdansk, Poland; and Cadiz, Spain.

Over the week of April 7-11, students from our college participated in the university-wide VSU Undergraduate Research Symposium. Forty of our students made oral and video presentations and 35 presented posters. https://www.valdosta.edu/urc/2025-urc-4-7-2.pdf

Three of our students swept the Best Paper Award: First place, Steven E. Covington; second place, Elizabeth Haley; and third place, Lauren I. Mariah.

Congratulations to Alina Sherrell Farries, our college's winner for the Spring 2025 President's Award for Academic Excellence. Over the weekend, our college awarded 350 undergraduate and nearly 30 graduate degrees at the graduate ceremony on Friday and the undergraduate ceremony on Saturday.

A large group of students, family members, friends, and faculty gathered to honor our college's outstanding students at the Student Awards Ceremony on May 1. Department and program heads presented awards to their students.
