📏✨ Measuring Up in Second Grade! ✨📏

Mrs. Pitre and Mrs. Cammie’s second-grade mathematicians put their measurement skills into action by estimating and then measuring their partners’ heights!

Students selected appropriate tools, experimented with different measuring strategies, and expressed their results in centimeters—as well as meters and centimeters. They even used tape diagrams to show the relationship between the units!

Hands-on learning helped our Rocket Scholars explore two important questions: How can we express a measurement in more than one way? What is the relationship between measurement tools and units?

Math is even more fun when we learn together! 🚀📐❤️💙

☀️ Learning through play in Ms. Shanae’s kindergarten class!

During CKLA, students played “Tap and Chase,” a fun twist on “Duck, Duck, Goose.” The student who was “It” was given a word—such as “sunshine”—and said each syllable (“sun, shine”) while tapping classmates around the circle.

This engaging game helped our young learners strengthen their syllable-blending skills while having fun! ❤️💙🚀

🍿🚀 Our VES Popcorn Fundraiser has officially begun! 🚀🍿

Help us raise funds for school and playground improvements and technology upgrades at Vacherie Elementary!

📅 Sale ends Tuesday, September 15
📱 Register, share, and sell completely online—no paper order forms!

Students must register before selling. Once registered, families can share their personalized shopping link through social media, text, or email. Orders will arrive at school in mid-October for families to pick up and deliver to local supporters or orders can be shipped to your home.

September is Attendance Awareness Month, and Vacherie Elementary is ready to GLOW! 🌟

🎉 We’re kicking things off with a Dress Down Day on Wednesday, September 2! Students can wear their brightest, boldest, most colorful outfit as we get excited about our 15 Days of Perfect Attendance Challenge!

📅 September 7–25, 2026
Students who have no absences, late arrivals, or early checkouts during the challenge will earn a special GLOWING PRIZE! ✨

But there’s even more on the line! 🏆 The St. James Parish Public Schools campus with the highest percentage of perfect attendance will earn a school-wide prize!

🚀 Rockets, we need EVERYONE here and ready to learn. Every day counts—let’s show up, shine bright, and GLOW UP together!

Students with all consent forms signed are beginning to receive their treats. We will continue to hand out treats over the next few days for anyone that completes the forms. Students with additional forms to sign will either come home with a form or teachers will message you regarding which forms are needed.

We have over 90% of students with the Jcampus Forms completed!
