🚨 BREAKING 🚨 Head coach Jared Carr has been signed for a 10 year $1 Billion contract to pitch for the New York Yankees. Management feels having a well rested, low velocity arm in the bullpen will prove to be valuable down the stretch this season.

The week started off at AC, where sophomore Keegan Pierce started on the bump. He threw two scoreless innings. In relief was senior Donny Hernandez and freshman Aiden Vazquez. Keegan and freshman Takeo Zagata led the team with 2 hits a piece, with TK scoring 3 runs, and Noah collecting 3 RBIs. Wood wins 7-5 on the road!
Friday, the Wildcats had an early season test facing the Benicia Panthers at home. Benicia, being a historically good team, showed again that they continue to be just that. Wood lost 12-2.

The Will C Wildcat baseball program begins its 2026 season on the heels of head Coach Voight stepping down after an amazing 15 years! He leaves an impressive legacy of steadfast commitment to the baseball organization and the student athletes that have been a part of this program. (Coach Voight is still around and involved as the Athletic Director for the school.)
Coming in at the helm of the program is first time head coach, Jared Carr. Coach Carr has a long history in baseball, going back to his playing days here in the Vacaville area. Carr has been coaching at the high school and college level for several years and is looking forward to this new chapter.
The 2026 Wildcat team is coming off a year where they had 11 seniors graduate. While that is tough for any program to overcome, there is a solid foundation of returning players to build on.
The 2026 season kicks off this week! Go Wildcats!!

After much thought and reflection, I’ve made the decision to step down as head coach of the Wood Baseball team. Stepping away from this role has been a deeply personal and tough decision, as coaching baseball has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
I first stepped into this role back in 2010, with the goal of developing not just good baseball players, but great people. Over the years, I’ve had the incredible privilege of coaching and learning from so many talented and dedicated young men. Watching you grow both on the field and as individuals has been an unforgettable and meaningful part of my journey.
To the players: your passion, resilience, and hard work have been truly inspiring. To the parents and families: thank you for your constant support and belief in what we were building together. And to my fellow coaches and staff: your commitment, collaboration, and friendship made every practice and game a privilege to be part of.
This baseball program will always hold a special place in my heart. While I may be stepping away from the dugout, I remain extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and even more excited for what lies ahead for this program.
Wishing you all continued success, both on the field and in life. Go Wildcats!
With appreciation,
Coach Voight
