Does your child struggle with grammar, writing composition, punctuation, spelling, reading, or public speaking? Truth in Learning has a new Wednesday program that will help! These skills may be going away in the traditional education space but they're absolutely critical - and it's crucial that students develop these skills while they're young because they're cumulative. As AI-creep and tablets invade the classroom, Truth in Learning believes in good old-fashioned books and interpersonal skills as the keys to written and spoken communication - and the gateway to self-teaching.

This fall, beginning in September, we're offering 2 new classrooms. The older classroom (ages 10-13) will focus on grammar, writing composition, literary development, and public speaking. The younger classroom (ages 7-10) will focus on phonics/grammar, punctuation, spelling, composition, presentation, and even cursive [yes, CURSIVE stimulates brain development, speeds up reading literacy, aids in memory retention, and is an art form that develops a child's fine motor control. Our nation's founding documents are written in cursive and many of today's college students can't read them because they were never taught cursive].

Happy SECOND OF JULY/INDEPENDENCE DAY fellow Americans and Truth In Learning community!!! That's right - did you know that TODAY (July 2nd) is the ACTUAL date in 1776 when Congress voted and made official the decision to separate from Britain? The next day, July 3rd, the representatives locked themselves in Independence Hall in Philadelphia in scorching heat (sound familiar?) while debating the final draft language. The final draft was completed and signed and made public on July 4th, 1776. The original draft was written by Thomas Jefferson, but some big parts were taken out. For example, Jefferson had an entire section condemning King George for his hand in the slave trade that was removed. Why? Because Georgia and South Carolina (that state has always been so problematic) refused to sign on to the Declaration without the slavery clause removed. John Adams, our 2nd American president who is often referred to as the "Atlas of Independence" because of his incredible oratory skills and leadership during the revolutionary movement, wrote to his wife, Abigail, saying "The Second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more."

Isn't that incredible?! In fact, Adams was so insistent on July 2nd being the observed date of independence that he often refused to attend events celebrating July 4th.

And here's where it gets really wild. Jefferson and Adams - these two incredible men who fought for and led our nation's independence, who were 33 and 40 years old respectively in 1776 - BOTH DIED ON JULY 4th, 1826! Adams died in MA and Jefferson in VA on the 50th anniversary of our country's independence. The country was shocked to hear of their simultaneous deaths and many saw (and continue to see this) as a sign of God's providence.

We are thrilled to welcome Diana Burns and Hannah Gardzina to the Truth In Learning team where they will join Paul Buono as classroom teachers this fall. As parents of children in the Truth In Learning program, both Diana and Hannah already share a special connection to our community, and we are so excited to have them step into these new roles. Their experience, enthusiasm, and passion for education beautifully reflect the heart of Truth In Learning and its core values.
