Schedule Related to Next Week's Concert:
Good evening!
This announcement contains important information relating to our scheduled February 26 concert (which has been on the choir calendar since early Fall) being held in association with February being Black History Month. This relatively short (~35-40 minutes) concert will also serve as an outreach concert to the greater Uvalde community and will be held at the El Progreso Library located just off of West Main Street. We are pleased to be joined this concert by well-known Uvalde pianist and promoter Toni Hull as accompanist and our own theatre teacher, Krystle Wells, as featured soloist.
As was the case for the period around the Veteran's Day performance, we have a very full rehearsal and performance schedule for next week. This schedule, including dates, times and locations, follows:
Tuesday, February 24: Combined Junior High/Senior High rehearsal , UHS Choir Room, 4:10-5:15pm
Wednesday, February 25: Dress Rehearsal, El Progreso Library, 5:00-6:15 pm
Thursday, February 26: Concert, El Progreso Library, 6:30pm start with student call time either 5:45 or 6:00 pm (This will be decided based on how the Dress Rehearsal goes. If it goes well, it will be a 6:00 pm call time, otherwise 5:45 pm.
As has been the case throughout the year, all of the above events carry summative grades. We simply cannot perform in public if we have missed students haphazardly through the final rehearsal push. All of these dates have been, in one form or another, on our calendar since very early in the year. As per the contract/syllabus distributed at the start of the year (and still available here on this page), requests for excused absences (as defined in that document) should have already been forwarded to me by your students. In case there is a serious conflict that has not been brought to my attention, please do so as soon as possible via email ([email protected]).
Concert dress will be less formal than for the Winter/Christmas concert. Acceptable attire includes maroon shirts (of any type as long as they either have school logos/lettering or are plain maroon), presentable jeans (ABSOLUTELY no holes in the jeans) and presentable closed-toe shoes or sneakers (no Crocs, no sandals or other open-toe shoes permitted).
As was the case for the Winter/Christmas concert, not all students will perform all pieces but all WILL perform the first three pieces and the finale with Ms. Wells, so students will not be permitted to leave the concert venue early. Thank you.
