On May 7, Horace Mann Elementary - Sedalia, MO third graders spent the day at The K! They got to see on-field STEM experiments and robots with, along with other hands-on science activities and exhibits, before cheering on the Kansas City Royals as they took on the Cleveland Guardians!

On Monday, students in Smith-Cotton High School’s dual credit U.S. History class wrapped up a research project exploring how history is communicated through photographs. Each student selected an influential photograph and researched its lasting impact.
To showcase their findings, students created museum-style displays and strengthened their academic writing skills by developing annotated bibliographies and abstracts summarizing their research.
This hands-on experience enabled students to engage with key primary and secondary sources while developing essential college-level research and writing skills.

Field Day at Heber Hunt Elementary looked a little different thanks to the rain, but it was still such a fun day inside!

Students painted, tackled obstacle courses, bounced in bounce houses, played games, got temporary tattoos, and made lots of fun memories together.

We want to shout out the healthcare providers who volunteered for our annual Free Physical Days at Smith-Cotton Junior High School and Smith-Cotton High School. Their time and effort make it possible for students who otherwise might not be able to take part in extracurricular activities to participate.

Kindergarteners at Horace Mann Elementary - Sedalia, MO celebrated the end of the year with personalized class awards!

Every student was recognized for the unique qualities that make them shine.

Queen City CAPS associates Nathan Dickman and Traevon Booze, both Smith-Cotton High School juniors, shared their vision for a community soccer celebration during the Sedalia Area Chamber of Commerce monthly breakfast on May 14 at Lifepointe Church.
“The Sedalia World Soccer Celebration,” a community event to be held July 3 in downtown Sedalia, will bring together local residents and businesses to share World Cup excitement. The family-friendly event will include food vendors, youth games, family activities, a walking parade and a 12-foot LED screen to show World Cup matches. The CAPS team is looking for sponsors to help offset the costs to put on the event.

Loftus Early Childhood Center graduation was full of smiles, songs, and sweet memories Monday and Tuesday evening at the Heckart Performing Arts Center 🎓

A dozen Smith-Cotton High School Class of 2026 graduates were recognized during Monday night's Sedalia 200 Board of Education meeting for achieving the Missouri Seal of Biliteracy. This accomplishment highlights their incredible dedication to their education, their linguistic abilities, and their cultural awareness.
The Missouri Seal of Biliteracy is a prestigious credential awarded to graduating high school students who have demonstrated high-level proficiency in English, at least one other world language, and sociocultural competence. This will be officially documented on their high school transcripts and diplomas, serving as a powerful asset as they apply for colleges, seek university language credits, and enter the workforce.
