This week is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week💚 February 23-March 1
NEDAW is a week dedicated to the awareness, education, and support of those who have struggled with or are impacted by eating disorders. Too often, people go unseen or unsupported due to stigma, misinformation, and barriers to care.
The prevalence rates for eating disorders have been shown to be higher in athletes compared to non-athletes and have been found to range from 6-45% in female athletes, and 0-19% in male athletes.
In a recent study from 2021, in a sample of competitive athletes, over 86% met criteria for an eating disorder/ sub threshold eating disorder.
If you, or someone you know is struggling, reach out to your sports dietitian or the resources on the last slide❤️
