Behind every MBEF-funded program is thoughtful stewardship guided by parent priorities and focused on broad student impact. By investing in programs that benefit as many students as possible and ensure parity across our schools, every dollar works harder for our children. Support the Annual Appeal before Jan. 31 and sustain the programs that matter most.

Our Story

The Manhattan Beach Education Foundation is a community driven fundraising organization, which supplements state funding for programs that inspire learning, enrich teaching, and promote innovation and academic excellence in the public schools of Manhattan Beach. Founded in 1983 by concerned parents and community leaders of the South Bay, the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation raises money to improve Manhattan Beach public schools. It pays for teachers and other educators whose positions the state of California does not fund or require but our parents and educators consider necessary for a quality education. MBEF’s role has evolved from providing limited educational enhancements, at a cost of tens of thousands of dollars, to funding critical educational programs at a cost of more than $6 million annually. MBEF currently pays for classroom teachers so our children can enjoy reasonable class sizes, librarians at each of our seven schools, science and reading enrichment, computer teachers, music teachers and assistants, and counselors. MBEF’s board of directors consists of parents, community members, and PTA presidents from each of the district’s seven schools.

The Manhattan Beach Education Foundation is a California non-profit, public benefit, corporation. It is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The federal tax ID number for the foundation (EIN) is 95-3881166. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
