JA of Central VA Junior Achievement of Central Virginia inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a global economy.

JA brings volunteer role models from our community into K-12 classrooms to deliver programs that foster work readiness and financial literacy. We prepare students to develop successful financial management habits and provide them with the skills necessary to succeed in a global workforce. JA of Central Virginia serves approx. 20,000 K-12 grade students each year throughout the region, with the maj

ority in the Richmond Metro region. We are only able to do this with the help of over 1,500 volunteers every year who bring unique perspectives and life experience to the turnkey curriculum. And our partnerships with school districts and educators make it possible to serve so many of our area's students.

100% of teachers recommend JA programs!

We're proud of that number, but we're even prouder of what it represents.

This year, students told us they were more confident they could succeed, more motivated to pursue their career goals, and better able to see how their education connects to their future.

That’s the result of educators, volunteers, partners, and supporters coming together to give young people opportunities to learn by doing and see what’s possible for their future.

Every student deserves a moment when it clicks.

At Junior Achievement Finance Park, students get to practice making real decisions about money...including the difference between having enough money today and actually being able to afford something.

In this case? The something was a jet ski. 😂

Moments like this are why hands-on learning matters, and we want more Central Virginia students to have the opportunity to experience them.

The best career advice doesn’t always come from a classroom.

For Office of Community Wealth Building - The Maggie L. Walker Initiative YES intern Kyran J., a day at Virginia Credit Union gave him a different perspective on what comes next.

“It’s not about where you start, it’s how you finish.”

That’s what JA Job Shadow can do: give young people a chance to meet people doing the work, ask questions, and see possibilities they may not have considered before.

It turns out a lot of people have wondered what's on the third floor of Libbie Mill Library!

Last week, we welcomed neighbors, educators, volunteers, families, and community supporters into Finance Park for our first-ever community open house. Guests explored the simulation, discovered the JA Career Center, picked up family learning resources, and left advice for the students who will visit this school year.

We loved sharing the place where more than 7,000 Central Virginia students each year connect education, careers, and financial decisions, and we're grateful to everyone who stopped by to experience it.

"Both of my parents said they wished they had this experience in high school, because it would have saved them lots of time and money."

After a day at Junior Achievement Finance Park, we ask students, "What will you remember?"

Katelyn, 10th grade student at Atlee High School Atlee High School, shared first about the conversation she had when she got home. Then she told us, "I honestly believed I'd use only around $50 for groceries... In the real world, that would have thrown me off quite a bit on my finances."

That's why students practice these decisions at Finance Park before they're making them with real paychecks and real bills.

Ever wondered what's on the third floor of Libbie Mill Library?

Most visitors never see it, but every year more than 7,000 Central Virginia students step into Finance Park for hands-on experience with the real-world decisions that shape their futures.

On July 30, we want you to see it for yourself!

Join us for a free community open house to tour Finance Park, explore the newly upgraded JA Career Center, and experience the interactive learning environment that helps students connect education, careers, and financial decisions to the lives they want to build.

Your first full-time paycheck can feel like a lot of money...until you start spending it.

This summer at Junior Achievement Finance Park, interns from across Central Virginia are getting the opportunity to explore the financial realities that accompany their future careers and to practice making informed decisions before those choices become real.

"It is rare to get a chance to see how your finances might change over time, and it was also super helpful to see all my possible expenses in one place."

Experiences like these help young adults build confidence and prepare for what's next.
