Community Partners Join Us in Celebrating StudentCam Success

We were honored to welcome several special community partners to Community Montessori (CM) as we celebrated the outstanding achievement of middle school students Addison Powell, Ryan Anderson, and Mnium Clark-Jijon, who earned 2nd Prize in the Middle School Division of StudentCam 2026.

A special thank you to Allie Apfeld, a representative from Congressman Scott Peters' Office; Andrea Rosenthal, a representative from Assemblymember Patel's Office; Alberto Velasquez of Cox Communications; and Rachel Katz of CSPAN/StudentCam for joining us in recognizing our students' accomplishments.

Their award-winning documentary, Behind Barbed Wire, explores the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness through thoughtful research and compelling storytelling. Their work reflects the dedication, creativity, and critical thinking that make our students such outstanding representatives of our school community.

Congratulations to Addison, Ryan, and Mnium on this remarkable achievement!

Community Montessori Poway's Art Show Fundraiser was a swimming success! Our students poured their hearts and souls into our collaborative hallway mural, which receives much love and praise from all visitors to our campus. Huge shoutout to our wonderful art teacher Mrs. Sarah for the countless hours of work she put into creating this incredible vision.

CM Mary Lane hosted our yearly 3rd grade celebration for our students moving on to Upper Elementary and moving to CM Oak Hill. We will miss these kiddos so much but look forward to watching them grow.

The students were visited by 2 former CM students who will be graduating from High School next week. They were able to see what the future will look like for them. Thank you to Ash & Vicky for coming to help cheer on the 3rd graders and coming to visit the Learning Center where everything started for you. For one of these 2 students, they were able to share a photo with their Kinder teacher.

We gave our graduating 8th graders the sweetest Oak Hill sendoff! 🎓

As they made their final walk through campus, the rest of our Oak Hill students lined the courtyard with claps, cheers, smiles, and so much love. From little learners to longtime friends, our community came together to celebrate this incredible class and all they have meant to our school family.

There were happy tears, big hugs, and unforgettable memories as we cheered them on toward their next adventure - High School! We are so proud of each and every one of you!

Community Montessori Poway's Upper Elementary class had an incredible time on their last field trip of the year to the Mission Bay Aquatic Center ! Students had a hands-on ROV building lesson followed by a kayaking experience. Students all agreed it was a highlight of the year for them.

We could not be more thankful for the team of amazing parent volunteers who support the staff and students at CM Mary Lane. You have all planted the seeds of love that have helped countless hearts grow.

This past week we were able to host our annual volunteer appreciation assembly. With so many volunteers, not all were able to be in attendance, but we would like each and every volunteer to know how thankful we are for all of their assistance this past year. We appreciate you ALL more than you know.

As the school year winds down, Oak Hill’s middle schoolers took center stage with a spectacular Shakespeare showcase! From the mystery and magic of Macbeth and The Tempest to the timeless drama of Romeo & Juliet, our talented performers brought the Bard to life for an audience of captivated 1st–6th graders. 🎭✨

Laughter, gasps, sword fights, and standing ovations filled the room as younger students experienced the magic of live theater — and perhaps discovered a new love for Shakespeare along the way. A memorable and creative way to celebrate the final weeks of an amazing school year at Oak Hill!

CM Poway was excited to welcome two of our parents into the classroom as presenters this week. Author Danielle Soucy Mills shared her experience in writing and publishing her children's book Tina Tumbles. Our STEM guru Arun Sunni Dsouza broke down the basics of programming AI and building computer programs. He helped the students create their very own computer game on Gemini! A big thank you to our wonderful parents for sharing your talents and interests with our students and sparking their love for learning.

Santee celebrated our wonderful parent volunteers last week. Our families help make our learning center community a very special place. Our parents volunteer in the classroom, donate supplies, chaperone field trips, help support events here at the learning center and out in our community. Your time, care and involvement make a meaningful difference in our students.
