We’re so excited to introduce a brand-new series celebrating the incredible educators who make The Purple Crayon such a special place to learn and grow!

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be highlighting the amazing educators across both of our locations, giving you a chance to get to know the individuals who inspire and encourage our students every day.

From their favorite classroom activities to fun facts and what they love most about teaching, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the wonderful people who help make The Purple Crayon feel like family.

Fine motor skills are the foundation for so many important milestones in childhood. From buttoning a coat and zipping a jacket to holding a pencil, cutting with scissors, and writing their name, these small hand movements build the confidence and independence children need for everyday life.

At The Purple Crayon, fine motor development isn’t something we focus on once in a while, it’s woven into every single day. Beginning in our infant classrooms and continuing all the way through Pre-K.

Through play, they’re developing hand strength, coordination, control, and the skills they’ll need for future success in school and beyond. Because at The Purple Crayon, we know that the smallest moments of play often build the biggest skills. 💜

Creative play in motion 🚗🎨

Sometimes the best masterpieces are made with a little paint, a few toy cars, and lots of imagination! Our students explored cause and effect, experimented with colors, and created one-of-a-kind artwork as they raced paint-covered cars down ramps.

Hands-on learning that inspires creativity, problem-solving, and endless fun. 💜

A huge thank you to all of our amazing families who volunteered their time to be part of Community Helpers Week at our English Creek location! ❤️

From sharing your careers to answering curious questions and inspiring our students, you helped make this week so meaningful. Experiences like these show our children just how many incredible people make our community stronger every day.

We are so grateful for your support and partnership. We can’t wait to bring Community Helpers Week to our Central Avenue location next month and create even more special memories together!

A huge thank you to Absecon Veterinary Hospital for spending the morning with us and bringing along two of the sweetest giant bunnies! 🐰💜

Our students had so much fun learning about what veterinarians do to help keep animals healthy, how to care for rabbits, and some amazing bunny facts.

Hands-on experiences like these spark curiosity, build empathy, and help children connect classroom learning to the world around them.

Thank you for sharing your time, knowledge, and adorable furry friends with our Purple Crayon family. It was a day our little learners won’t soon forget! 🩺🥕✨

🤍 Friendship begins long before words.

Some of the most meaningful lessons in early childhood happen through simple moments like these. Standing side by side, exploring together, taking turns, watching one another, and learning that it’s fun to share an experience.

Even our youngest learners are developing important social-emotional skills every day. Through play, they begin to build friendships, practice cooperation, develop empathy, and gain confidence as they interact with others. These early connections help children feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.

At The Purple Crayon, we believe that nurturing kind hearts is just as important as growing curious minds. 💜

🎨 There’s no right or wrong in process art—only imagination at work.

Our students explored a variety of materials, made their own creative choices, and let their imaginations lead the way. Process art encourages children to think independently, solve problems, and express themselves in ways that are uniquely their own.

At The Purple Crayon, we celebrate the process just as much as the finished product, because that’s where the real learning happens. 💜

Our little scientists have been carefully observing, watering, and documenting the growth of their plants as they learn that living things need love and care to thrive. Through hands-on science experiences, children aren’t just learning about plants, they’re building observation skills, asking thoughtful questions, and making predictions.

The best learning happens when curiosity takes root. 🌱
