Today, we congratulated our 15th cohort of Trauma Informed Specialists through our partnership with California State University, East Bay!

Our first cohort began in February 2018 & since then, our reach has been amazing. Because of Emily Santiago's dedication to designing this trailblazing program, education professionals and trauma informed advocates from all over the world have had the chance to be recognized for the work they already do and:

-Explore the brain science behind learning & resilience
-Build learning environments that heal and empower
-Address burnout and bias with peer support groups

We can't wait to follow our graduates to learn about their continued contributions. 🥳

We love this graphic by Oh Happy Dani! Such an uplifting way to look at the complex work of systems change. We hope it is helpful for those of you who are building Trauma Informed/Healing Centered schools!

root > fruit 🌳

In our work, it’s easy to get caught up in:

🌼 back-and-forths & hot takes that spark good conversations but often lack solutions
🍊 temporary fixes that mean well but are essentially putting band-aids on gaping wounds
🍃 being more focused on the effects of issues than the root causes

When you do good work with the understanding that our individual actions toward change should move in tandem with our collective uprooting of the systems preventing change, you’ll realize that:

🌳 you’re not alone in this work or solely responsible for fixing everything
🌳 we can’t stop at band-aid solutions because the roots of the issues run deep
🌳 not seeing immediate change shouldn’t cause you to give up because uprooting is the work of a lifetime

Don’t get stuck in the disappointment of what you currently see. We’re working to create a future that’s yet to be seen!! 😊

Happy new year to our beloved community!

We are honored to continue to walk alongside you as we journey forward to create environments that heal & empower.

If you're looking for some gentle and compassionate reflection prompts to begin the year, we've curated three for you to choose from.

1) Our Emotional Regulation Journal Entry - Use this tool in a way that feels good to you. For example, you may decide to draw a picture, engage with these prompts during a reflective circle, or respond to the prompts verbally.
