Family Self Defense Center, chosen as Novi Patch's Best school in Novi or Northville, has been providing instruction in Isshinryu Karate since 1992. Chosen as one of the “Top Five Isshinryu Dojos in the Country” by the Karate Hall of Fame Board in 1999, 2002, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 and Most Outstanding Dojo in 2011 and 2012, F.S.D.C., promotes a “family friendly” atmosphere for the study of t

raditional Isshinryu Karate and Okinawan and Padded weaponry. Z, a Renshi level Master Instructor, and 6th degree Isshinryu Black Belt, has been teaching for over 25 years and Ms. Chris, a 5th degree Black Belt, has been instructing for over 15 years. Both have been certified by the world renowned Cooper Institute, and were chosen “Top Contributors” nationally for their instruction of Isshinryu Karate three times each. The school also boasts many National Champion students who also serve as Teaching Assistants.
