The Jefferson VA Ruritan Club The Jefferson Ruritan (Jeffersonton, VA) is part of Ruritan National.

Ruritan National has nearly 32,000 members throughout the United States, that work to improve more than 1,200 local communities. Since the organization’s beginning in 1928, Ruritan Clubs have served America with Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service. Ruritan is a civic service organization made up of local clubs in urban areas, small towns and rural communities. Ruritan's purpose is to creat

e a better understanding among people and through volunteer community service, make America's communities better places in which to live and work. The slogan of Ruritan is "Fellowship, Goodwill and Community Service." Club membership represents a cross-section of the community in which the club serves, and is not restrictive with regard to occupation, social position, or any other specific criteria. Unlike most civic service organizations, Ruritan rarely has national programs. Rather, each club surveys its own community as to the needs of that community and then works to meet some of those needs.

The Jefferson Ruritan Club is sponsoring a Fundraiser Benefit Co****le Tournament beginning at 3pm (registration & practice from 2-3:00) on Sat., June 6, at Death Ridge Brewery, 5255 Higher Ground Trl, Jeffersonton. Cash Prize, Regulation Boards, Bracket Style Double Elimination, Family Event with playground on site. Registration is $30 for each 2 person team. Outside event. Food and refreshments can be purchased separately from the Brewery. Future tournaments will take place monthly on the 4th Sat. of the month through Oct. (except Sept. tournament will be on Sept. 12). The Ruritans will donate all proceeds from the tournaments to expenses connected with cancer treatments for local resident and dedicated Ruritan volunteer, Troy Dovell, Jr. For many years Troy has unselfishly loaned his boards, bags and score towers and set them up for our charitable fundraiser tournaments. Now it’s our turn to help Troy in his battle with cancer. The Jefferson Ruritan Club is a community service organization that helps make our community a better place to live.
