🌟 Rowan has been named a Student of the Month at Minnesota Connections Academy. 🌟
“Rowan stands out as a student who demonstrates extraordinary grit and resilience on a daily basis,” said school staff member Mrs. Hirman. “She perseveres through tough times and maintains positive relationships with her teachers.”
Rowan’s mother, Billie Jo, said her daughter started at the online school after the COVID crisis and that the transition was wonderful. She praised the school for how well they communicate with parents and students, and “the kids still get to have things such as prom and field trips.”
She said Rowan, a 12th grader, who has attended since 2023, loved school before COVID and then struggled until enrolling in Minnesota Connections Academy, which “helped her enjoy school again and get back on track for graduation.“
Outside of school, Rowan enjoys skating, babysitting, and church events.

Tenth-grader Alex had a sweet surprise when he reconnected with his 2nd–3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Gehrman. While attending state testing, the two got to catch up and share a quick visit—proof that great teachers leave a lasting mark! 😊

🌟 Writing and class participation led Aspen to being named a Student of the Month at Minnesota Connections Academy. 🌟
“[She] is a stellar U.S. history superstar,” said Mx. Pierce. “She writes insightful essay responses for all activities and engages thoughtfully with our curriculum. She completes extra credit and reaches out to check in if she has questions. Way to go, [Aspen]!”
Her caretaker and grandmother, Pascale, said she enrolled her granddaughter at the school for the opportunity to learn at her own pace and reduce exposure to negative people. She praised the school for the amount of help available, general positive kindness, and acceptance. “It has been a joy and relief to experience Aspen’s transition to learning at home through Minnesota Connections Academy.”
Aspen, a seventh grader who enjoys comic conventions outside of school, added, “What do you mean you're not going to Connections Academy yet?"

🌟 Tenth-grader Annabella has been named a Student of the Month at Minnesota Connections Academy. 🌟
“Annabella has been doing a great job in world history this year,” said teacher Mrs. Steinhoff. “She has great communication when any issues come up in class. I am so proud of Annabella for her hard work this year.”
“Minnesota Connections Academy had many more opportunities available for Annabella than the local public schools, with access to a better curriculum suited for her needs,” said her Learning Coach, Emma. Annabella had been enrolled in Connections in 8th grade, then tried traditional public school again in 9th, "but ultimately decided Minnesota Connections Academy was a better choice! The transition back was made easier with helpful teachers and her counselor. I love how much easier it is for her to get one-on-one help with lessons and how flexible lessons are. She is excelling so much more than she ever did in traditional public schooling."
Annabella said the teachers are really nice and willing to help with any questions she has, adding, “It’s really nice to have a flexible schedule.”
Outside of school work, she loves to read, cross-stitch, cuddle the family cats, and play video games. 📖😺🪡🎮

🌟 Fifth-grader Ellie has been named a Student of the Month at Minnesota Connections Academy. 🌟
“Ellie is making so much progress and has become a leader in our groups,” said teacher Ms. Deopere. “She's so kind and encouraging.”
Ellie’s parents, Amanda and Steven, like the school because the staff is so supportive. “It’s so much better than the brick-and-mortar. She is learning more and has built her confidence,” they said.
Ellie enjoys learning at her own pace. When she isn’t in school, Ellie enjoys judo and mud bogging with her family in their mega truck. 🥋
