Hello Loves,
Last week I promised to dive a little deeper into self care...so here its...

What are your self-care practices?

I tend of to think of self-care practices in categories -

Stillness -
presence and the pause - this relates to our ability to self-regulate, think clearly, observe as well as heal the body
Creative and Generative - this is where we feed and acknowledge ourselves - it is also where we invite ways to bring our deepest parts out into the world and create peace and centeredness.

Movement -
involving the body and sensation - feelings and unmet needs get locked into the body and being and movement allows us to keep the engine going, remove blockages both in the body and the mind and what we discover in sensation to gain insight into the blockages in spirit and mind.

Purpose or Intention Driven -
involving the artist, activist and philanthropist in you - this is the doingness of the creative and generative practice - it is the way in which we bring those things to pass and share them with the world.

Ritual and Cyclical -
finding rhythm - acknowledging the cyclical nature of life, making transitions and change smoother and easier.

Relational -
acknowledging our interdependent needs - speaks to our place in the world and gives life and experience context.

How would you like to express the answer to the question of your spiritual practices?

Just answering this question can be a practice of its own. If you enjoy painting or drawing, create an artistic representation.

For example, I personally, favor trees - the parts of the tree have so much symbolism within them. I tend to think of the roots of this tree to be grounded in connection, communion and awareness of self and others.

So if this is true for you - what would the rest of the tree represent? How would you share all your practices or intentions?

If art is not your thing and you prefer writing - write about the different practices you have used or would like to use but make sure you address each of the categories.

Perhaps you need structure and organization...make a chart and share it with us.

When your done leave it visible and commit to giving any of them space in your day. Start with at least 2 small gestures and see how the energy within and around you changes.

Love you.

Visiting Peace, Self-Care and Connection

Feed my soul?!! I am lucky if I can feed and bathe my body consistently.

Over and over again you will hear me reference reflective or contemplative practices. Both of these skills are central to conscious living and becoming a successful life-long and symbiotic learner. When our love cup is full we can offer more to our families, function more efficiently and model healthy self-love, confidence and competence. Demonstrating visible and consistent practices will help your children naturally create their own.
We all know this to be true and yet somehow we stray from it's truth and fall prey to the other voices in our heads that justify avoidance or procrastination. We forget that in doing this we de-value ourselves and the role we have as models to our children.
We cannot forget that listening to our spirits, our hearts and our bodies is what makes us healthy, efficient and fulfilled in life. It will be the same for them.

Share - purge - your first thoughts on self-care and connection.

Tell us what comes up when you think of these things. How many aspects of yourself want to speak up? In what way does the critic speak about it? How does the inner child respond? Are there more aspects of you speaking out? What do they have to say?

I invite you to join me on a zoom call this Tuesday evening hopefully after the children are put to sleep to be together and walk through the process I created in this article.

Malia Daguio-Silversmith is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
