Aloha! Remember when “I can’t believe it’s not butter“ was a healthy choice? We were told that “vegetable” oils like canola and soybean were better for our hearts. BUT it was all bullsh*t. These unstable oils oxidize easily trigger inflammation and raise our insulin resistance! Learn how to spot and swap these silent saboteurs in “The 15 wrong rules that actually work” — guide available— drop BUTTER in comments or DM.

How often do you override a quiet bodily signal because you think it doesn’t mean anything?

Remember when “low-fat” meant “healthy”? Some clients still tell me its their general rule.

That one label sparked decades of confusion—and far more blood sugar instability than we realized at the time.

Here’s the twist: fat was your first nutrient.
And it’s still critical now.

This is one of the 15 “wrong” rules that actually work.

Everyone today says the same thing, with great certainty:
Prioritize protein.

As if this were a new discovery, rather than an idea the world has already lived through — and paid for.

Henry VIII did not lack protein. He feasted on it. Flesh was what he believed a king deserved.

And yet his body kept its own counsel. He grew heavy. Slow. Inflamed. His joints failed him. His wounds would not heal. His world narrowed to the reach of his chair and the limits of his pain. His physicians, working within the science of their time, warned of excess — of heat, congestion, and strain on the body. They were closer to the truth than they realized.

What strikes me is not the extravagance, but the familiarity.

Five centuries later, we use cleaner language — protein, macros, optimization — but the thinking is the same.

Replacing carbohydrates with ever-greater amounts of protein does not restore metabolic health. It simply shifts the burden. If you are not actively building muscle, your body still has to process that excess. The glucose still appears — it just takes a longer biochemical route.

Let’s stop fearing fat.
Let’s stop worshiping protein.
Let’s figure out what your body actually needs.

Everyone keeps blaming butter.
Meanwhile something else has been sliding under the radar for 70 years.
If your energy’s been weird or your glucose numbers feel “off,” this might be why.

Plain water isn’t the hero we were told it was. If you’ve got T2D and you’re still thirsty all day, it might be a mineral problem — not a water problem. A tiny pinch of sea salt can hydrate you better than chugging bottles.

Aloha Friends, I look peaceful here, right? Sunset glow, wild hair. My daughter sent me this photo last night, and I remember the hike we went on that day.
But you know, life hasn’t always been this beautiful. The reason I got into studying holistic health was because a while back it was me who was struggling.
I kept waking up tired in a way that didn’t make sense. Not the “stayed up too late” tired — complete exhaustion. I didn’t question it. I just kept pushing, because that’s what I learned as a kid from a New Jersey farmer dad and an Ivy League intellectual mom: push, smile, perform, produce. I was convinced that feeling awful simply meant I needed to try harder.
My fatigue got so bad… yet I kept selling the next $2 million software package, running a household, trying to be a good mom. I ran on croissants and coffee and adrenaline. Interestingly, it was actually adrenal fatigue that brought me to my knees.
One day, I finally crashed completely. I couldn’t imagine going another day feeling that bad. I couldn’t get off the couch. And when I heard about a friend’s sister who took her life, I felt a shock run through me. I couldn’t imagine my kids navigating this world without me.
So I started looking for support and found an osteopathic doctor and his nutritionist wife. They gave me tons of tests, and they helped me recover and build a better lifestyle. After a year of time and effort, I found myself coming back to life.
My kids are now 28 and 31, but in all these years since, I’ve felt better and better. My energy is clean. My mind is clear. And I have fun adventures every day.
I can relate to those of you out there who keep pushing through exhaustion and feeling off, because I used to be her.
And I’m still deeply aware of how many people walk around feeling like their body is failing them.
That’s why I look for the deepest ways to help people heal — and why I do my coaching. I want people to feel like they’re thriving, not just getting through another day.
That feeling of “You’re safe here now.”
