What was one of your favorite things about studying in London?

"I really liked being able to walk a lot of places and how easy the use of public transportation was. Being a soccer player it was amazing to be able to be surrounded by football fans and going to see games live or at a pub. How easy it was to travel to different parts of the country was really nice." - Bella Vallone (Arcadia University), Arcadia in London

"I would tell [future study abroad students] to say yes—yes to meeting new people, going new places, experiencing new things, even if it’s out of your comfort zone or you’re tired. As long as you’re taking care of yourself and your mental health, of course, make sure you push yourself to experience as much as possible and soak everything up. You don’t want to regret not doing something. That’s how I was able to feel really fulfilled by the end of my program and like I have grown into a new version of myself. " - Lydia Barber (Hamilton College), University of Edinburgh

"Seeing Ancona was a last minute decision but it definitely surprised me. The city doesn’t try to impress you with all the crowds and tourists. The windswept cliffs and mesmerizing views were all I needed. Ancona also had a lot of hidden gems: 16th century museums, ancient churches, and amazing food. In Ancona I learned that you can find beauty in the unexpected." - Ann Botros (Belmont University), ISI Perugia - the Umbra Institute

As part of their semester abroad, Arcadia Abroad students have the opportunity to partake in some incredibly immersive and unique excursions, planned and hosted by our very own in-country staff! Lydia Barber (Hamilton College) just wrapped up her semester at the University of Edinburgh, where she joined multiple Arcadia Abroad Scotland excursions with our team, including a trip to the Highlands and Borders 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🐮

"One of the highlights of my semester was taking a boat ride to Capri, Italy. We sailed along the Sorrento coastline, visited the Blue, Green, and White Grottos, and the famous Faraglioni Rocks. My favorite part was swimming in the crystal-clear water. It was such a surreal experience to swim in the ocean surrounded by such enormous, beautiful rocks." - Liz Ripley (Ohio State University), ISI Florence

"During my mid-semester break one of my best friends and I did a multi-day road trip around the south island of New Zealand which included a lot of fun adventures.
Day 1 we drove from Dunedin to Milford Sound and did the cruise to see the waterfalls. That evening we drove a few hours to a campsite where it was pouring so we ended up sleeping in the car.
Day 2 we made our way to Wānaka (stopped to see the lake) and did a hike up Mount Wānaka where we could see the full rainbow from the top of the mountain. We made our way to the next campsite and actually got to camp outside by Mount Cook!
Day 3 we hiked Mount Cook (including 2200 stairs) but the view from the top made it worth it, and it was our last hike for the trip. Directly from the hike we made the drive to Christchurch where we finally didn't have to eat food from a tramping stove.
Day 4 we woke up early the next day to drive to Kaikōura to go whale (and I supposed dolphin watching). After whale watching we drove back to Christchurch for one more night (we didn't want to have to drive all the way from Kaikōura to Dunedin after whale watching).
Day 5 we finally made our way back from Christchurch to get back to Dunedin and settle back into our flats. I was very grateful that we had finally completed our loop and didn't have to drive anywhere else but I highly recommend a road trip with your friends for a mid semester break while you're abroad!" - Ava Cargan (Hamilton College), University of Otago

"Arcadia Abroad is well-organized and strives to ensure that students in its program enjoy every moment they can. They offer fun activities and excursions for students, and Arcadia staff put in the effort to communicate/spend time with students one-on-one to check in with them and see how they are doing. This shows how Arcadia Abroad truly cares about their students and creates a well-rounded, friendly atmosphere for all." - Winnie Welch (Colgate University), University of Sydney - Spring Friendly
