Five reasons for Parents to get Involved in their Child's Education 04/06/2019

Here are six strategies (and resources) that can assist you in supporting and encouraging your children in their academic advancements.

1. Volunteering- You can sign up to volunteer for field trips, school activities, and other events around the school.
2. Decision Making- Two heads are better than one. We would love to hear what you have to think about the events, activities, and field trips we create. Your opinions matter.
3. Attend parent workshops. These are great opportunities for you to see what your child is doing in the classroom.
4. Call- We all have a lot going on. As a teacher we understand. Communication is key to a good relationship. If you have any questions, concerns, or think there is something important we need to know please call.
5. Read with your child. This is a great opportunity to bond with your child while also enriching their love of reading.
6. Have fun with learning. Do enrichment activities- science experiments, DYI activities, family trips to the library, age-appropriate museum exhibitions, and theatrical plays.

At our school we are addiment about our parents' involvement in their children's education. Here are four research based reason's (and their resources) as to why you should be involved in your child's education.

• Higher grades- Students whose parents are involved in their education tend to have higher grades.
• Better behavior – Students’ more positive behavior when their parents are involved.
• Increased confidence- Students’ self-esteem increases because they know they have their families support.
• Being involved improves parent child bonding. It has been proven through research that students have better relationships with their parents when their parents are involved in their academics.
