🦜 Learning Takes Flight in Our Bird Unit! 🐦

Our preschoolers are exploring how birds live and thrive—using tools that mimic bird beaks, painting with feathers, and observing backyard birds up close.

Through hands-on play, they’re building science knowledge and practicing letter sounds, counting to 20, and writing their names.

We are off to such a great start at Preschool! Our fantastic kiddos are quickly learning our rules and routines, and our days are already humming along smoothly. We’re so happy to have
welcomed some awesome new friends to our program, and we're excited to see our community of families grow!

These first two weeks, we’ve started our All About Me unit with a focus on how we use our bodies and our five senses to explore and learn about the world around us. Using our sense of
touch, the children have been exploring different textures both inside the classroom and out in nature. Along the way, they’ve been building new vocabulary and practicing descriptive
adjectives to express what they feel.

We’ve also begun our journey into literacy with letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and early writing—starting with the letter B! 🐝✍. Soon to follow will be our first vowel, “A”, and some more commonly used consonants. This will give those students who are ready the building blocks they need to sound out their first words.

In addition to literacy, we've introduced early math concepts such as counting and cardinality and writing numbers 0-1. We will work on recognizing and writing number 2 next week.

Just as importantly, our preschoolers are learning how to communicate kindly and play collaboratively with friends, building the social skills that help create a supportive and joyful classroom community.

It’s inspiring to see so much curiosity, joy, and growth already—and this is only the beginning!
