It's time to meet our next dancer!

Mary Hoegen has been a member of the Mesquite Toes for almost one year. She and her husband relocated to Mesquite in July 2025 and she quickly found her new dancing home with The Toes.

Mary has been dancing since the age of 6 and has a BA in Dance from DeSales University. She owned a studio in her home state of New Hampshire for 16 years and stayed on as co director until 2025. Mary is proficient in tap, ballet, modern dance, good old fashioned jazz and musical theatre. Many of her students have gone on to have successful performance and teaching careers.

Dance and theatre is something that brings joy to her. Stepping up as rehearsal director last December for the Christmas show earned her a teaching spot on the team and a place at Virgin Valley High School's Theatre as choreographer. She is the current Secretary of the Mesquite Toes.

Mary is the Guest Experiences Manager at Eureka Casino Resort and especially enjoys hosting the live entertainment. She is also involved in the Eureka Community Initiative and has accepted a position of Ambassador for the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce. In New Hampshire, Mary was co-director of the Miss Capital Area Scholarship Program which is an official local to Miss New Hampshire. She enjoys pageant coaching and judging and operates under "Crowning Confidence" here in Nevada.

Mary advises anyone who is thinking about starting dance or continuing dance as an adult to come and try some classes. The Toes are very welcoming and have a great time together.

She is also trying to advocate that YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A SENIOR CITIZEN to join The Toes! Calling all 20's-50's and beyond! Come dance with us!

Meet Brenda! She has been dancing with The Toes for 5 1/2 years and is also a teacher on staff.

Starting at age 3 she took creative movement, tap and ballet, adding pointe as a teen. She danced all the way through high school and added modern dance within the high school dance curriculum. She majored in dance in college and taught high school dance for 30 years. Her favorite has always been jazz and character dance.

Dance is her life and she loves it! She originally never thought that after retirement she'd be this involved in dance again, but she is sure glad to have found The Toes.

When she's not dancing, she and her husband are traveling, visiting their kids and 7 grandkids. They even manage to get some golf time in together. They have 54 cruises under their belt and have seen 80 countries.

Brenda wants people to know if you want to perform with The Toes, it's a commitment. If you just want to dance for fun, it's a great way to meet others and get some fun exercise.

Join us this fall and try out some classes. You will be glad you did!

It's time to meet our next dancer!

Karin has been dancing with The Toes for just about 2 years now.

Like most, she did the obligatory gymnastics, tap and ballet as a child. As an adult she enjoys going out dancing with girlfriends. She likes ballet for core strength, posture and learning to carry oneself gracefully. Jazz is super fun to dance and perform to and has great music and costumes.

Karin dances because she loves music. It moves her soul. She can't (shouldn't) sing so dance is how she experiences music. She dances for herself because it's fun and makes her smile. Dance is the best form of exercise for active longevity for the mind and the body.

She loves to enjoy life to the fullest and for her entertaining, cooking for her friends and having big thematic parties is her greatest joy.

Karin advises anyone looking to join the Mesquite Toes to join it for fun even if you don't want to perform. Enjoy learning a new skill in an entertaining way, making new friendships, body benefits and mind activation. But be forewarned, join The Toes may result in inner joy and happiness, life long friendships and overall fulfillment.

Be on the lookout for the fall schedule which is being released soon!

Introducing our next dancer! Deana attended the spring show in April 2022 and after hearing the announcement about beginner classes for the summer she was all in! Marge W. was her tap teacher for the summer class and she loved learning tap from her.

Deana participates in tap classes because she loves the happy sound the tap shoes make! She thoroughly enjoys watching all types of dance but so far her feet are most comfortable in tap shoes. She loves moving to music and it's fun to learn new things.

Deana accomplished her two biggest goals in life. To become a mom of 4 children and to become a teacher of public school for 31 years. She is now retired and does what she wants and enjoys it!

Deana advises anyone looking to join The Toes to just DO IT! There are so many wonderful people there and the teachers are great. They love to dance and share their knowledge of dance.

Come join us in the fall for classes!

It's time to meet another dancer!

Patti joined the Mesquite Toes two years ago after moving to Mesquite from The Villages, FL. After finding The Toes she joined immediately and has been dancing ever since with us.

Patti began dancing in 2010 and has loved every minute of it. She danced for ten years in the Senior Dance Team for the Orlando Magic NBA Team. She dances because it gives her the exercise she needs for body and mind. She loves to perform and enjoys the confidence boost that an audience provides.

Patti enjoys acting and singing and is a member of the Sun City Sounds Chorus.

She advises anyone who is looking to join the Mesquite Toes to come and give it a try! It will be so satisfying.

LIVE, LOVE DANCE!

DANCER HIGHLIGHT

Meet Dana Lynn who has been dancing with the Mesquite Toes for about 8 years now.

She started dancing at age 5 in tap, jazz, ballet and hula. She was enrolled in combination classes and performed at fairs, parades and stage performances until about age 10. After that she danced on and off throughout the years.

Her favorite styles are tap, jazz and hip hop as well as clogging where she has lots of fun but tap and jazz are top of the list. She loves to move to the music and to perform to bring joy to others.

She states she is totally right brained and loves anything artistic. She loves to create and is a slightly retired hairdresser who owned her own salon for years. Her other big love is being an artist with oils, pastels and acrylics. Creativity has no boundaries.

Her advice to someone looking to join the Mesquite Toes is to JUST DO IT! TRYIT! You might just fall in love with dance.
