Get a head start by participating in the Monarch Joint Venture's self-paced Gardening for Monarchs and More course, which begins next week.

Whether you’re starting from scratch or updating a few containers on your balcony, this course is designed for gardeners of all experience levels with small spaces (containers, small community plots, backyards). This mostly self-paced course will walk you through the key steps to creating a vibrant, pollinator-friendly garden that supports monarch conservation and biodiversity. The course consists of several videos to watch on your own schedule and then two live sessions to attend to ask questions and receive feedback on your garden plans.

🌱 Free Milkweeds are Back! 🌱

Applications are now open for our Free Milkweeds programs for spring 2026!

Monarch Watch and partner nurseries are working together to distribute free milkweeds to qualified schools, non-profits, and large-scale restoration projects that apply to these programs.

By planting milkweed, you’re helping restore and grow habitats that support the life cycle of monarchs. And milkweed not only provides monarch caterpillars with a food source and a place for female monarchs to lay their eggs, but it also supports many other pollinators.

Bring monarch migration to life through art, science, and story!

Through the Symbolic Monarch Migration Project, your students will create and send paper monarchs to students in Mexico while learning about the real journey these butterflies take every fall.

Now hosted on the Monarch Joint Venture’s NECTAR Hub, your registration includes complete instructions, helpful videos, and downloadable templates—perfect for classrooms, homeschool groups, zoos, aquariums, and youth programs. This program is perfect for grades K–8 and integrates art, science, geography, and social studies into one meaningful program.
