New Summerfield ISD Class Reunion Page 1980-1999
Class Reunion Planning page for the NSHS classeses of 1980-1999 to communicate & share ideas to continue the planning of more fun gatherings and reunions.
Thanks to those who took the last poll. Majority prefers to meet at a restaurant.
Here are a few dates to choose from. You can choose one or both, meaning that either date is fine with you. Or you can add a different date in the comments. If someone adds a different date and you prefer that, give it a like 👍.
Please share with your NS 1980-1999 alumni friends. If you know someone who would be interested but is t on Facebook, get in touch with them so they can join in the fun 💙💛
P.S. Some have asked if they can come even though they didn’t graduate at NS but went to school there for years. Yes!! 💯
We still consider them/you a NS Hornet, our classmate, our friend and part of our hometown.
P.S.S. The poll is in a separate post!

The Hornet 88-89 season. The season like none other. The season we all believed the state championship was ours. The year it should have been ours. The season when we saw our town come together and pack the stands, standing room only for every game. Crowded fan buses following the players and cheerleaders to away games. Painted faces, spirit shirts, pom poms, megaphones, bad mullets and big hair donned with blue and gold ribbons. What a season we were having!
Then, a season-ending and life changing unnatural injury for our captain and leader. Everyone who was there will never forget the sudden silence in the gym, falling tears and whispered prayers, the sound of the sirens and the sight of the gurney taking our leader off the court. Then a little hope - from the gurney, he pointed to the sky, as if telling us he was ok and reminding us that we were still #1. Those that came later still hear the stories that we all tell about this particular moment in time during the season like none other.
Capturing it all on video was KETK's John Florer, spouse of our teacher, Mrs. Heather Florer. Thank you for this memory, John! "Hornets Doin' the Wild Thang" captures the grit, the toughness, the heartache, but more importantly, the spirit of the community that supported and surrounded our TEAM during this unforgettable season.
I hope you enjoy reminiscing over these treasured moments from 35 years ago. Allow yourself to feel all the emotions as you watch this video. Remember the joy and pride that we felt being a Hornet, especially during the season like none other. I hope it reminds you of how blessed we are to have grown up in our small town. In our small town-where no matter how long you've been gone, or where life has taken you through the years, you can always come home to a hug and a smile and know that you are loved. In our small town, you'll always be a Hornet 💙💛
I do not own the rights to this music.

Classmates from near and far come together and lots of wonderful new memories were made, great laughs were had, and lots of memories & stories were shared. We honored and paid our respects to all our precious classmates that are no longer with us and cherished the memories we had with them. Thank you to all who attended, and to everyone that contributed food, decorations, videos, music, and more. What a successful reunion, we definitely look forward to doing this again in the future.

See you at the reunion 💙💛💙💛
The Fiesta Barn is coming together for the reunion. We can’t wait to see you! 💙💛
Printing photos of our classmates for the memorial table and it’s hard to fathom that we have lost so many. If you haven’t decided whether you’re coming to the reunion this weekend, please do join us. We’d love to see you! 💙💛
We are getting close! Just two weeks to prep and finalize our plans. PLEASE respond to your invitation. If you won’t be able to join us, we will miss you terribly, but please decline the invite so we have a good head count. Bring your +1 👍🏻 If you have any questions, please ask.
We could still use a volunteer for
photo op decor and goodies for classes 1990, 1991, 1992, 1995. Thanks to those who are volunteering their time, paid the entry fee and donated extra for the cause thus far.
Share the event page with anyone on your friends list that hasn’t been invited yet. We realize not everyone has Facebook so please send them the info if you keep in touch. Even if you’re not able to come, they may want to.
Let’s make this a successful event!
💙💛 forever
