Meet our Patriot alumna Juliana Statile. Juliana is a doctoral student in Vocal Performance at Indiana University where she is completing research on the endocannabinoid system and the connection between the voice and the brain. She is also a graduate assistant teaching freshman STEM students in the Groups Scholars Program and recently won the graduate student of the year award through the office of Student Life. Juliana graduated from UT Tyler with a degree in Vocal Music Education and her favorite choral memory is, “singing so many beautiful pieces and hearing the collective wall of sound around me with so many other talented singers coming together in harmony.” Congratulations Juliana!

We're delighted to welcome the Marshall High School Choirs to our campus today, along with their choir director, Stephanie Ferro, and chaperones! Dr. Park had the pleasure of leading these wonderful students in a vocal technique workshop, and Dr. Rose led a joint choir session with the UT Tyler choirs. What a blessing to share music with them!

Monday Patriot Milestones 🎓

Congratulations to UT Tyler School of Performing Arts alumna Kellsie Ruiz (BM '21) on being named Academic Dean and Assistant Principal at Johnston-McQueen Elementary School in Longview ISD!

A 2021 graduate of UT Tyler's Choral Music Education program, Kellsie began her career as an elementary music teacher and has continued to expand her impact in education through her transition into campus leadership.

Kellsie has also remained active in the arts beyond the classroom through her involvement in community theatre productions with ArtsView Children's Theatre in Longview.

We are proud to see our music education alumni using their experiences as educators and artists to make an impact in leadership roles throughout our East Texas communities. Congratulations, Kellsie, on this exciting career milestone!
