Kent State Twinsburg Nursing

On Monday, students in NRST 20217 Maternal Child & Family Nursing participated in a Postpartum Hemorrhage Simulation. This hands-on learning experience allowed students to apply theoretical knowledge in a realistic clinical scenario, enhancing their critical thinking and decision-making skills.

Simulation is highly beneficial to student nurses’ learning experience. It provides a safe, controlled environment where students can practice clinical skills, learn to work effectively as part of a healthcare team, and build confidence in responding to high-stakes situations. Through simulation, students can reflect on their actions, receive immediate feedback, and develop competencies essential to safe and effective patient care.

A few highlights from our May Grads! We know everyone is excited to see not only the graduation shots but also the photos from events leading up to commencement. Our team is hard at work editing all the photos this week, and we plan to have everything ready to share via Google Drive by early next week. If we finish ahead of schedule, we’ll send them out sooner!

This Memorial Day weekend, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom. We honor not only these brave men and women but also our military nurses who served on the front lines, often risking and giving their lives to care for others. Their compassion and bravery will never be forgotten.

In observance of Memorial Day, there will be no classes, and all Regional Campus offices will be closed on Monday, May 25.

Jennifer Conway: A Journey of Dedication and Growth in Nursing

As the May 2026 graduation approaches, nursing student Jennifer Conway reflects on her transformative journey through nursing school—a path marked by resilience, family support, and a passion for caring for others.

Originally from Cleveland, Jennifer moved to Twinsburg after getting married and starting a family. When searching for the right nursing program, she was drawn to KSU Twinsburg Academic Center for its proximity, allowing her to balance the demands of academics and family life. The small class sizes and supportive learning environment also played a key role in her decision, along with the program’s impressive success rates for RN graduates.

Jennifer’s inspiration to pursue nursing came from a desire to help people during some of their most challenging moments. She was also excited by the wide array of specialties and growth opportunities within the nursing profession. Throughout her time in the program, Jennifer’s favorite experiences have come from applying classroom knowledge to real-life clinical settings. “The best part of nursing school is seeing everything come together during clinicals,” she shares.

Balancing the demands of studying, working, and spending time with her family was Jennifer’s greatest challenge. She overcame this by managing her time carefully and relying on her support system, especially her husband. “His confidence in me kept me motivated, and he always stepped in to help at home whenever I needed to study or attend class.”

Among her clinical rotations, labor and delivery stands out as a highlight. Jennifer recalls the privilege of supporting families during such a special time and caring for “tiny miracles.” Looking ahead, she is most excited about working in the operating room, where she can provide focused, one-on-one patient care, participate in life-changing procedures, and develop a specialized skill set. Currently, she is shadowing in various ORs to gain insights from different teams and hospital environments.

Jennifer’s journey is also shaped by her earlier service: she joined the Army National Guard as a Military Police officer at 18, serving for eight years. This unique background has contributed to her discipline and perseverance in nursing school.

To unwind after long days of classes or clinicals, Jennifer values quiet moments—relaxing in her car or on the couch with a good show and a favorite drink. When it comes to studying, homemade Chex mix is her go-to snack, offering the perfect salty, crunchy boost.

Her advice for new nursing students is simple yet profound: “Celebrate the small achievements along your journey. Whether it’s passing a test, checking off on your skills, or getting through a tough week, those moments matter and will keep you motivated.”

If she had to sum up her nursing journey in one word, Jennifer would choose “challenging.” She explains, “My nursing journey pushed me beyond my comfort zone and tested my self-discipline while navigating life changes and unexpected setbacks.”

As she prepares to step into her nursing career, Jennifer Conway’s story is a testament to the power of perseverance, the importance of support, and the rewards of following one’s calling.
