This organization was created due to the lack of volunteering diversity in our community.

OurCity Initiatives serves as the administrative liaison and research task force between Culverhouse LIFT and Tuscaloosa nonprofits, after-school programs, understaffed schools, and career development groups. Students volunteer in surplus to larger nonprofits, but leave many smaller organizations understaffed and underfunded as a result. Our research committee exists to recognize and evaluate the needs within the community, and develop volunteer partnerships to fulfill those needs.

The OurCity Initiatives - Tuscaloosa School Supply Drive was a huge success! Thank you to UA Greek Programming Board and University of Alabama Sororities for spreading the word and donating! We were able to give Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School over 1,000 donation items. Special thanks to Alpha Kappa Lambda University of Alabama Gamma Beta Chapter and the The University of Alabama Boxing Club for putting in tons of volunteer hours to organize the donations and deliver the boxes to the school.

Boxes are being delivered tomorrow morning to the last few houses. In addition, we are working on placing a box in Culverhouse School of Business for Greek members without a house to donate at! We apologize for the delay!

Donate your extra school supplies at sorority drop boxes! If your sorority doesn't have a house or a drop location, shoot us a message and I can help direct you to your nearest location!

Boxes are being dropped off at sorority houses today! Donate an item for a Greek point! Earn up to 5 Greek points and help out Tuscaloosa teachers!
