Want to improve your public speaking and leadership skills in the New Year? Join Varsity Toastmasters, we are a Toastmasters club that specializes in helping any individual or Toastmaster to take their communication skills to the next level by offering helpful, constructive and experienced Distinguished Toastmaster ROUND ROBIN evaluations to all of our speakers or presenters. We offer longer speech times if you need to get credit or practice for a BIG presentation.

We meet on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at 6:15pm in a hybrid format, in person at the Schusterman-Benson Library at 3333 East 32nd Place in Tulsa OK, 74135 or over Zoom.

Mientras daba una presentación a un grupo de representantes de ventas, noté que sus teléfonos parecían tener un efecto magnético en sus manos. Algunos parecían estar tomando notas en sus computadoras, pero yo no tenía forma de saber si estaban captuando mis brillantes ideas o se ponían al día con sus correos electrónicos. Estaba hablando con ellos, irónicamente, sobre la comunicación. Realmente estaban interesados en mi tema, pero les resultó difícil concentrarse. Eran una audiencia distraída.

La distracción llegó para quedarse. Las investigaciones muestran que las personas se distraen a cada segundo. Ya sea soñando despiertos o sintiendo la necesidad de tomar su teléfono, no están completamente en el momento. La presencia universal de teléfonos inteligentes y tabletas proporcionan un suministro interminable de distracciones, que van desde correos electrónicos hasta juegos para la espera, como “Candy Crush”. Pon tu punto principal primero.
La gente pone mayor atención al principio de tu mensaje. Comienza con un gancho que llame su atención, como una pregunta, estadística anécdota o cita. Luego entrega el mensaje principal dentro de los primeros dos minutos para garantizar que se reciba. No Comiences con la historia o los antecedentes. Ve al punto directamente..

Usa un lenguaje claro y sencillo.
Si simplificas tu habla a un nivel de escuela primaria, a la gente le resultará más fácil de entenderte. Incluso si sabes que todos tus oyentes son universitarios, si hablas a un nivel de bachillerato (por ejemplo, 3er. grado), es probable que se desconecten.
