Jefferson Elementary Uses Early Release Friday Collaboration to Meet Students’ Needs
Students at Union Public Schools dismissed 40 minutes early on most Fridays during the 2025-26 school year, as a way for teachers to have localized collaboration time at their respective schools. At Jefferson Elementary, teachers across all grade levels used that time in different ways to help support student success. Hear from 1st and 5th grade teachers about how collaboration allows them to identify student needs, share strategies and resources, and create targeted learning opportunities designed specifically for their grade levels.

Today was such a special day at Jefferson! ❤️🎓 We loved welcoming back our graduating seniors for our Senior Walk tradition. The halls were filled with smiles, memories, and excitement as seniors walked through Jefferson in their caps and gowns while our students and staff cheered them on during the parade.
The seniors enjoyed a cookout lunch, painted rocks for the Jefferson garden, visited with former teachers and staff, and spent time walking through their old classrooms and around the school. It was wonderful to see so many parents, teachers, staff members, and students come together to celebrate them.
What a meaningful morning for everyone involved! We are so proud of these students and can’t wait to see all they accomplish in the future.

As a reward for donating the most shoes for the High School’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp show drive last fall, Jefferson Elementary was the lucky recipient to enjoy a field day led by cadets.
Games featured obstacles courses, tic tac toe, tug-of-war and even a four-by-four tug-of-war in which four students have to pull against each other to grab a cone in their corner.
Students attended the ROTC Field Day during specials. Students featured in this post are pre-kindergarten students.
