The University of Tulsa’s (TU) SVA chapter attended the 17th Annual Student Veterans of America (SVA) National Convention (NATCON) at the Broadmoor resort in Colorado Springs, CO. While at NATCON, the group consisting of the advisor and 10 student veterans from the University of Tulsa’s (TU) SVA chapter attended several valuable breakout sessions. These breakout sessions allowed the group to increase their network, meet with employers, bolster their professional skills, or learn how to start and manage their own business.

Each NATCON provides a unique experience to student veterans to not only empower them but make them feel welcome. NATCON provided them an opportunity to have a voice in a supportive environment. Each student veteran in the group relished every opportunity to mentor their fellow veterans on their unique educational journey. Each developed bonds that will carry over to our campus, where they can not only grow their local SVA chapter, but grow as brothers/sisters in fellowship.

For those student veterans who have not yet attended a NATCON, or applied for the SVA Leadership Institute, the bursts of empowerment you receive never fade, and the bonds you develop with other student veterans globally stick like glue.
