Ubuntu: I am because we are. My humanity is tied to yours.
This week, our newest members took part in their first Ubuntu walks, a City Year tradition rooted in connection, listening, and shared humanity.
As they walked side by side, AmeriCorps members shared their stories, reflected on the experiences that have shaped them and brought them to service with City Year, and learned more about what matters most to one another. These conversations help build the trust, empathy, and sense of community that will carry them through a year of service together.
Because when we take the time to understand one another, we become stronger together.

A new year of service is officially underway! This week, our staff and Senior AmeriCorps members are thrilled to welcome the first group of the newest members of our AmeriCorps community. Through Service Learning Institute, these dedicated leaders will build the skills, knowledge, and confidence they’ll need to support students on day one of the new school year.
We’re excited to grow, learn, and serve together. Here’s to another great year of impact!

Today, we had the incredible honor of celebrating our newest alumni—leaders who have dedicated themselves to making a difference in Tulsa's schools and community.

We’re especially proud that 100% of our members are leaving their service year with a plan for what’s next—from pursuing a PhD, to stepping into classrooms as educators, to continuing their education as full-time students at great local institutions like .

Their commitment to service has not only impacted the students they supported, but has also shaped their own paths forward as changemakers.

To our graduates: thank you for your passion, your resilience, and your belief in the potential of every student. We can’t wait to see the impact you continue to make. 💛
