Congratulations to the East Central Junior High Chess Team and Dr. Morris they won 3rd place overall at the TPS chess tournament!

The competition was tough this year, so be sure to congratulate them. They put in the hard work and practice for their win.

Next year, they will be contenders for the Chess district championship title!

The funeral service for East Central Junior High teacher Patrick Ho**er will be Saturday, April 9 at 6:00 PM at Wilson Teaching Learning Academy. The address is 2710 E 11th St, Tulsa, OK 74104. In lieu of flowers, please send houseplants. His family welcomes anyone who would like to attend.

Parent/Teacher conferences for East Central Junior High will be on February 15 and March 3 from 4:45-8:15. Conference sign-ups can be found on your student’s Canvas page. We look forward to meeting with you for conferences.

Due to staff absences, East Central Junior Highl will be suspending in-person learning on Friday, January 21.
Students should use their Chromebooks tomorrow to log onto Canvas to stay on track with their assignments. Students will have opportunities to participate in real-time virtual interactions with their teachers and classmates during the first 40-50 minutes of each class period. Zoom links can be found on their teachers’ Canvas pages.

We will continue to provide breakfast and lunch meals free of charge to all ECJH students. Grab and go meal service will be available at our school tomorrow from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM.

Información importantes para los padres y familias:

El Servicio Meteorológico Nacional ha dado una actualización del clima acerca de las bajas temperatura el día jueves 6 de enero. Se espera que el área metropolitana de Tulsa tenga temperaturas heladas, con la mínima de entre los 12-19 grados con vientos muy helados, haciendo sentir las temperaturas como de cero a cinco grados.

Le recomendamos que tome las siguientes precauciones mañana por la mañana:
-Limite la cantidad de tiempo que pasa afuera y expuesto a las temperaturas;
-Si los estudiantes viajan en el autobús, pídales que lo esperen con usted dentro de un vehículo que tenga calefacción;
-Usar las capas de ropa adecuada y disponibles que proporcione protección contra el viento y el frío y que se pueda quitar a medida que el día se calienta;
-Mantenga a su estudiante bien hidratado y trate de evitar las bebidas azucaradas o con cafeína; y
-Asegure que el estudiante duerma bien para ayudar al sistema inmunológico.

Important information for parents and families:
The National Weather Service has issued a weather update about wind chill temperatures on Thursday, Jan. 6. The Tulsa metro area is expected to have mean air temperature lows in the mid-teens with the wind chill expected to make those temperatures feel like zero to five degrees.
We encourage you to take the the following precautions tomorrow morning:
-Limit the amount of time spent outside and exposed to the temperatures;
-If students ride the bus, have them wait for it with you inside a warm vehicle;
-Layer appropriate and available clothing that will provide insulation against the wind and cold and that can be removed in layers as the day warms;
-Keep your student well-hydrated and try to avoid sugary or caffeinated beverages; and
-Ensure proper sleep to help assist your student’s immune system.
